It’s the calm before the Nintendo storm as we’re only days away from the release of some of Nintendo’s biggest holiday titles! This week on the NintendoFuse Podcast, we discuss whether GTA V will come to Wii U, the pricing for Resident Evil: Revelations, new characters for Mario Kart 7, a new 3DS firmware update, and MORE! Coffee with Games – Star Fox 64 (Virtual Console)

Star Fox 64 was originally released for the Nintendo 64 on June 30, 1997. Star Fox 64 was re-released on the Wii’s Virtual Console service in North America on April 2, 2007 with a price point of 1,000 Wii Points, which is $10.
The original N64 game was rated “K-A” by the ESRB, which meant the game was for “KIDS TO ADULTS“. The Virtual Console version received the updated ESRB rating of “Everyone” with “Violence” listed at the only content for gamers/parents to be aware of.

If you are a Nintendo 3DS owner, Nintendo is releasing Star Fox 64 3D tomorrow, September 9, for the system. The 3DS version of Star Fox 64 has a MSRP of $39.99, and features updated graphics and two control methods, one which uses the 3DS’ gyroscopes, and it features local multiplayer across 3DS systems.

So, with Star Fox 64 3D releasing this week, how many hours Wii owners have played the Virtual Console version of Star Fox 64; and do the reported hours show Star Fox 64 3D might be worth its $40 asking price, or would gamers be better off purchasing the cheaper Virtual Console version for just $10? UPDATE: Nintendo of America, via Twitter, has confirmed the additional five titles.

According to the Japanese Nintendo website the full list of NES games available through the Ambassador Program are as follows:

Donkey Kong Jr
Balloon Fight
Ice Climber
The Legend Of Zelda
Wrecking Crew
NES Open Tournament Golf
Yoshi
Metroid
Zelda II: The Adventure Of Link

Since this is coming from Japan there is a slight chance that the other 5 titles may change for each country. How likely this is, we’ll find out this Thursday.

Nintendo Download – August 25, 2011

With six more days until the Nintendo 3DS Ambassador program starts, at least with the ten free NES games, Nintendo is still cranking out the weekly downloadable titles. Gargoyle’s Quest will hit the 3DS Virtual Console today. Let’s Create! Pottery, Magical Whip: Wizards of Phantasmal Forest, and Calculator all come to DSiWare. A free WiiWare demo will be available for Kyotokei, and The Ignition Factor will be on the Wii Virtual Console. On top of all that, the Blue Man Group’s “Upgrade Your Life” and a short film called “Moving Still” will soon hit the 3DS Nintendo Video channel.

Nintendo Download – August 11, 2011

Another week and another somewhat lackluster day of downloadable games on Nintendo platforms. In an odd fashion, Nintendo has decided to not push more and more 3D games on the eShop. Instead, they have released a single somewhat unknown title from the GameBoy for the 3DS Virtual Console. Also expect three new titles for DSiWare, including another in the GO! GO! series. WiiWare and Wii Virtual Console get one additional title each. The Nintendo Video channel for 3DS is highlighted once again with two new videos that have hit or plan to hit soon. Finally, Nintendo pushes the 3DS Ambassador program once again, as today is the FINAL day to purchase and log onto the eShop to qualify for the program, which promises 20 free games.

Free 3DS NES games get multiplayer update

Make sure you sign up for the eShop!

3DS owners will be able to to download 10 NES games and 10 Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games for free.

To be registered for this offer, you need to connect to the Nintendo eShop before the 12th of August. The free software will then be made available at a later stage.

New today, in a press release, Nintendo announced that some of these games would be updated versions of 10 NES originals including Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong Jr, Balloon Fight, Ice Climber and The Legend of Zelda.

Now Nintendo has moved to clarify what these updated features will be.

“These will be 2D games. They are not 3D Classics,” a Nintendo spokesperson told IGN. “When the NES games become available to the general public later this year, they will include additional features such as multiplayer simultaneous play. Ambassadors will then be able to download those updated version at no cost.”

3DS ambassadors will also be able to download free GBA games which will be made available from September 1st 2011.
