When Pokemon Platinum released, the Pokemon Giratina was on the cover… but in a brand new Forme not found in Diamond/Pearl versions. There has been much speculation that if there is indeed a third version of Pokemon Black/White (Pokemon Grey perhaps?), then Kyurem was the most likely one for the spot. Most Pokemon fans are predicting that Kyurem will get a new Forme… but much of that has been speculation and just going by what makes sense. Now, we have actual proof.

The site PokeBeach has done some research into the code for the Pokemon Black/White games. In that code, they found a list of all the Pokemon who have alternate formes. That list includes Unown, Deoxys, Rotom, Shaymin, Deerling, and many others… including Kyurem. The sprite associated with it is the Pokemon Meloetta’s sprite, but that’s just a placeholder. The same thing happened with Diamond/Pearl, which had placeholders for new formes for Shaymin and Giratina, which appeared in Platinum.

So basically it is now confirmed that Kyurem will have an alternate form. And since this form doesn’t exist in Black/White, then we can put two and two together and get confirmation that there will be a third game for the 5th generation of Pokemon. What that game is called, what Kyurem’s new forme looks like, when we’ll find out about it officially… these are questions we don’t have answers to yet, but hopefully we soon will. Kyurem is appearing in the next Pokemon movie in Japan, so it’s highly likely we’ll get more info in the next few months. Personally I’m more interested in what system this inevitable third version will be on… DS or 3DS?

This time’s Pokemon is a story from the past!

Translation of the copy on the image above:

Set before the events in the games, Pokemon Red, Green, and Blue for the Gameboy, this game is set when the Pokedex was not around yet. Asked by Professor Fuji, a boy and a girl sets off on an adventure!

The main characters are Professor Oak, and one of the Elite Four, Agatha!
Your Pokedex is a sketchbook! Write your own Pokedex by drawing the pokemon with your touchpen!

These are the first pokemon you can get!
Articuno Moltres Zapdos

Pocket Monsters Sepia Pocket Monsters Monochrome
Yukinori Agatha

Which ever you choose changes your story.

INFO:

Playing as young Oak or Agatha (which implies there would be no Pokedex)

Only about 100 Pokes, many dual-types not existing yet.

Instead of Pokeballs, people use primitive man-mad balls from Apricorns, which you have to find and make yourself (thus making each Pokemon catch attempt more challenging) – rarer Apricorns – better catch rates, etc.

Instead of catching wild Pokemon, you try and befriend them or flight them.

After catching a certain species, you have a little cut scene of Oak/Agatha recoding the data, by drawing hte pokemon (which you do yourself), and then watch as they try and describe it, which will be the same info from the pokedex in Gen I-V.

No boxes, just leave your Pokemon at a specific daycare center (one in each town), which can store up to 12 Pokemon at a time. When your all out of storage space, you either release them in the wild, or release them in the future Safari zone, where you can visit them again.

By the end of the game, a small clip with several pictures come up, Oak and Agatha slowly growing older, slowly growing apart, the last pic is of Oak handing a Pokedex to two kids who you can’t see the face of.

The special new Pokemon game reveal has happened at Jump Festa! And it’s… something nobody predicted. The game is called “Nobunaga’s Ambition X Pokemon” and will be released for Nintendo DS (not 3DS) in 2012 in Japan. For those that don’t know, Nobunaga’s Ambition is a turn-based strategy RPG series involving real battles in Japanese history by Koei Tecmo, so Pokemon is now doing a crossover with that series and obviously bringing it into the fictional realm. The game has been developed as a joint effort by The Pokemon Company/Nintendo and Koei Tecmo. The images seem to depict Sengoku-period generals teaming up with Pokemon, which is a very intriguing concept and actually looks really interesting to me. I’m disappointed that it’s a DS game, but I’m more curious than ever as to what this will be like. If there’s any new news, I’ll add it to this post, but in the meantime enjoy some more images….

The poster for the game:

Here’s an image of a brochure for the game (the guy in the middle is Oda Nobunaga and he’s paired up with Zekrom it seems):

New Kid Icarus, Pokémon, Rhythm Heaven and Mario Party Games Are on the Way!

REDMOND, Wash., Dec. 13, 2011 – As some people hunker down for a long winter’s nap, Nintendo is getting things fired up. The first quarter of 2012 offers great new installments in popular franchises for both theNintendo 3DS™ system and the Wii™ console. Nintendo has something for everyone, from family fun to three-dimensional adventure.

On the Nintendo 3DS system, Capcom’s Resident Evil® Revelationslaunches on Feb. 7. In a new chapter of the hit survival-horror franchise, players fight a new enemy and virus in 3D without the need for special glasses. METAL GEAR SOLID® 3D Snake Eater from Konami arrives in the first quarter of 2012. The game is a re-interpretation ofMETAL GEAR SOLID 3: Snake Eater, and offers a rich jungle world with customizable stealth and camouflage options. On March 23, the epic odyssey Kid Icarus™: Uprising soars into stores and lets players help the winged warrior Pit fight Medusa and her Underworld Army.

The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS will also be busy with a variety of downloadable offerings. Dillon’s Rolling Western™ brings tower-defense strategy and touch-screen driven action to the Old West. Armadillo ranger Dillon defends pioneer villages against waves of attacking rock monsters using gun towers, defensive structures and his own exciting attack abilities. In Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword™, players travel to ancient Japan and guide a young warrior as he battles waves of enemy soldiers. Players must identify the enemy’s attack, dodge and counter-attack with the mystical Sakura Sword to win the battle. The critically acclaimed VVVVVV and NightSky from Nicalis, mind-bending action of Mighty Switch Force from WayForward and immersive 3D visuals of Mutant Mudds™ from Renegade Kid™ round out a diverse selection of downloadable games.

Nintendo is also introducing an optional accessory that gives Nintendo 3DS owners a second analog stick to control compatible games. The Circle Pad Pro will launch in the United States on Feb. 7. It will be sold through GameStop stores and online at http://www.gamestop.com at a suggested retail price of $19.99. The Circle Pad Pro is a comfortable cradle that holds the Nintendo 3DS system while adding an analog Circle Pad on the system’s right side. The attachment also adds additional shoulder buttons to give it a feel more akin to traditional console controllers. It is designed as an optional accessory and is compatible with Resident Evil Revelations and METAL GEAR SOLID 3D Snake Eater.

On the Wii console, Rhythm Heaven™ Fever arrives on Feb. 13 at a suggested retail price of $29.99 in the United States. The game asks players to test their rhythm in more than 50 easy-to-learn, tough-to-master minigames to prove they’ve got the groove. Two weeks later on Feb. 27, PokéPark™ 2: Wonders Beyond lets players take on the role of Pikachu™ and his Pals — Oshawott™, Snivy™ and Tepig™ — as they try to make it through PokéPark and discover the secrets of a mysterious new world. On March 11, Mario™ and friends reunite for a new party game adventure in Mario Party™ 9, which introduces new game-play elements to the series such as boss battles and vehicular travel across a wide assortment of stages.

We here at NintendoFuse really enjoy the holiday time of year. What gamer would not enjoy hanging out with family and friends, playing lots of video games? Because we know that this is a big gift giving and receiving time, we thought it might be helpful to put together a little “Holiday Gift Guide” for you, our amazing community. Feel free to use it as you wish. Maybe you will find a game that you forgot about, or perhaps you will find the game that would be perfect for that one relative (you know who we are talking about).

So, without further delay, here is the NintendoFuse Holiday Gift Guide 2011.

For that person who does not yet have a Wii…

While it may be hard to believe, there are those who still have yet to purchase a Wii. If you are one of them, or if you know someone like that, this is the year to get one! Not only is the system itself cheaper than ever, there are many bundles to choose from. You could get a copy of New Super Mario Bros. Wii, for instance, which would normally cost an additional $49.99.

For that person who wants to dive into the third dimension without those silly glasses…

The Nintendo 3DS had a bumpy start, with its high price and lackluster first-installment of games. Luckily, times have changed! You can now play 3D games and watch 3D movies without glasses for $169, which is $80 cheaper than the launch-price. On top of that, this holiday, you can get a bundled-in game for $20-30 more. Some stores even allow you to make your own bundle, where you choose what game you want. Along with that, some stores even include some accessories, like a case, in the bundle.

For the sword-wielding adventurer…

The latest Zelda game is out, and it has both fans and critics saying the same thing — this game is great! The new story is said to take somewhere between 50-100 hours to complete, and it fully utilizes Nintendo’s Motion Plus technology. This means, for the first time ever, every movement you make with the Wii Remote Plus will be replicated by Link on screen. Is this the next best thing to being in Hyrule yourself and saving Zelda? Maybe! Even better, for a limited time, you can get a 25th anniversary orchestra CD included with every copy of the game. For just a bit more, you can also score a gold Wii Remote Plus.

For the ones that like life in the fast lane…

By now, there are few people who do not know Mario Kart. The newest installment takes the game into the third dimension, but it also offers new items, customizable karts, online communities and leader-boards, 16 brand new courses, 16 reimagined retro courses, gliders, underwater, and a few new characters too. This will make any racing or Mario fan happy!

For the Mario fan…

Let’s face it. Are there really that many people who do not know and love Mario? If so, then this game is for everyone. Mario make the jump into full 3D in Super Mario 3D Land. Think of it as a cross between Super Mario 64 (N64) and Super Mario Galaxy (Wii). Not only will the 3D add more depth to the game, you will soon find that this game has much more than you first see. If you have a Mario fan on your list, this is a guaranteed perfect gift.

For that person who just can’t stop dancing…

The dancing genre is alive and well in the gaming scene. Among its leaders is the one of the ones that started it all. Just Dance 3 is the newest title to the beloved franchise. It boasts choreographed 1-4 part dances and a huge list of 45+ included songs. In case that is not enough, you can also download additional songs online. For those younger ones in your family, look for Just Dance Kids 2.

For the country music fan…

It is no secret that country music is on the rise. So, if Just Dance is not your thing, because it is too hip-hop or pop, then look no further than Country Dance 2. This follow-up will make a great gift for any country music fan who loves to shake their boots. This game has over 30 songs from more than 18 CMA award winners, and it is sure to get people off the couch, or at least shooting video of those who do dance along.

For the creative person…

The 3DS eShop is a growing platform for smaller digital games. If you have a creative person on your list, there are several games and apps available. However, one of the newest is one called Freakyforms: Your Creations Alive! You create your own creature, which you use to traverse many worlds. You can even share creatures with others. If you are looking for a more inexpensive option for a creative person, then consider FreakyForms. If you are unable to actually grab their 3DS to make the purchase, then grab a Nintendo 3DS cash card, which will allow them to get it on their own.

Game – DaGeDar
Version – Nintendo DS
ESRB Rating: ‘E’ – Everyone
Obtained – Review copy from Gamemill Entertainment

Being a nostalgic gamer, I must first say that this game reminded me of a combination of the classic Marble Madness for the Nintendo Entertainment System and F-Zero franchise. If Marble Madness was beefed up with unique ball options, 30 some levels, and racing laps around courses kind of similar to F-Zero; then you would have this amazingly fun game DaGeDar.

Gameplay & Controls
This game had reminded me of Marble Madness since the player controls a ball-like sphere or DaGeDar and competitively races against one other DaGeDar. The objective is clear; you must cross the finish line before the other DaGeDar. Each course consists of five races, the victor winning three of the five. Another mode to play is Time Attack where your DaGeDar goes against the clock. In this mode, you simply must beat the target time.

Players control their own DaGeDar, and must move, jump, dodge and turbo their way through each race. Each race is unique and has different obstacles to dodge, gaps to be jumped and hills and loops to turbo through. This is a fast paced racing game similar to F-Zero since decisions to dodge or jump need to be planned ahead. Each level also has several cannons that launch you up and around to excel the speed for a short period. Each race isn’t cut and dry either, there are numerous alternate paths to be found, oftentimes shortening your lap time by seconds.

There are numerous unlockables available from playing through the game. The player starts with a choice between ten different DaGeDars to choose from with different stats. The player must decide if they want DaGeDars with higher amount of speed, acceleration, control or one with a balance of these stats. New courses unlock when races are won in championship mode where you race against an AI DaGeDar.

Additional DaGeDars are unlocked when winning against the DaGeDar in Championship mode, or beating the target time in Time Attack. There are over 100 different DaGeDars that can be unlocked. Also, when you beat the Novice League in Championship mode, Pro League will unlock and another league will unlock after that. Time Attack is just one race at a time with each level being available when it is unlocked in Championship mode. The initial selection of the available DaGeDars, is limited as they all have one bar of speed, varying one to three bars of acceleration, and varying one to five (max) bars of control.

The game also features a practice mode and multiplayer. Practice mode allows the player to take their time through the race to practice the course at their own pace. This allows the player to find the fastest routes through the race without it counting against you or having to play the other courses. In Multiplayer you can host a game, join a game, or play locally on a single cart.

The controls are simple and just use the D-pad (or circle pad on a 3DS), Y and B. The touch screen is not used except for menus (which can still use D-pad and buttons to make selections). This makes it easy to play and does not complicate the game with different buttons to press at different times. Y is used for turbo by pressing and holding while the player has turbo to use. There are recharging spheres throughout the race that slowly recharge the turbo so the player must use turbo at the most opportune points in the race, such as going up into a loop, going uphill, or charging through the sand-like pits that slow the player down while they attempt to just move through it. B is used to jump over gaps, or jumping to a higher alternate path. Missing a jump or even overshooting a jump lands the player in an electric field where the DaGeDar is then reloaded just seconds prior to the jump.

The main issue I had with this game is that the difficulty appears to be harder than I expected. Don’t get me wrong, I love difficult games as much as the next gamer, but seeing how this is targeted towards DaGeDar fans (a younger audience), the difficulty seemed to start off pretty high off the bat. The player needs to make sure to practice the courses in either Time Attack or Practice mode first so that they have an idea where all the jumps are, and the shorter alternate paths to take during Championship mode. With the first league being called “Novice” I found it more to be a pro league, since in Championship mode the AI will only make the majority of their mistakes on the first lap, and will take the faster routes on the second to final laps. So if the player is still unfamiliar with the race or having trouble making jumps, it can be difficult to beat or catch up to the Novice DaGeDar.

Visuals and Sound
The visuals are mostly pretty basic with a 2D background picture behind the race. The course outlines and DaGeDar designs are pretty solid and met my expectations. The DaGeDars have unique faces on their ball-like spheres and differently themed. The cannons are looking sharp as a futuristic type of launching device, and the zip pads are clearly visible as an orange color. The sand-like pits are off-colored from the main track and are somewhat hidden to make the races more difficult. The sound is very upbeat and within the techno/electronic genre which makes sense for this futuristic type of race. I enjoyed the sound as I am a fan of that music type and it goes along with the race perfectly. The sounds from being launched from a cannon or when going over the zip strips are very basic but they clearly work making the game very enjoyable.

Concluding Overall Impressions
DaGeDar is clearly geared towards younger boys with a fast pace racing and DaGeDar designs. The controls are simple enough for anyone to play, and I found myself able to enjoy playing this game without being familiar with DaGeDars. I enjoy a game with a bit of difficulty to make sure you don’t easily win the game and put it down. I felt obligated to practice up to beat the AI. Overall the game creates a very enjoyable experience and I believe anyone of any age can enjoy this unique fun, addicting, and challenging game.

Final Score - 4.5 out of 5

I was very interested to learn of this recently. A clone of Super Mario Bros., The Great Giana Sisters was first released on Amiga and Commodore 64 in 1987. It has recently gained much attention in gaming forums. Nintendo quickly squashed publisher Rainbow Arts’ attempt to keep it on store shelves… That is until 2009, when DTP Entertainment and Spellbound Interactive created an overhauled and completely revamped version simply titled “Giana Sisters DS” in Europe. Recently, however, the game has been made available via newegg.com in NTSC US format. Walmart, Target, etc. have also picked up the well received game. The game isn’t even listed on Nintendo’s official DS game listings. Check out the videos for some gameplay action of the original C64 version and the newer DS version:

Hillside, N.J.—November 15, 2011 — Leading entertainment conglomerate, National Entertainment Collectibles Association (NECA), has announced the upcoming release of Gremlins Gizmo, a point and click adventure game based on the hit cult-classic film, Gremlins. Licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Gremlins Gizmo, developed by Pipeworksâ Software and ImaginEngine, both Foundation 9 studios, will be available this month for both Wii and Nintendo DS platforms.

“We have been a Gremlins licensee with Warner Bros. Consumer Products for over a decade. With the success of our product line, we were excited to partner with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and produce a Gremlins video game which is a perfect extension to the brand,” said Shannon Pratt, Director of Business Development at NECA. “Gizmo has always been such a beloved character and now kids and adults alike can bring him home as their own virtual pet in Gremlins Gizmo.”

In Gremlins Gizmo, players can interact with and care for their very own pet mogwai. Choose Gizmo or one of his four cuddly friends and unleash their fun-loving personalities through nurturing interactions, exploration and discovery. Play dozens of games including retro style arcade games, music games, and hide and seek. Watch Gizmo sing and dance his way to new levels and earn trophies to unlock new costumes, new environments and additional mini and micro games.

Gremlins Gizmo is rated “E” for Everyone by the ESRB and set for a national release on November 18. An exclusive gift with purchase will be available through select retailers.
