October means games, according to Nintendo. Specifically, it means a ton of 3DS eShop games. Today’s Nintendo Download is packed with goodness, so get ready!
To start with, let’s catch up with some full retail-release games that have also come to the 3DS eShop. In case you missed it, you can now download Crosswords Plus and Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone! from the eShop. This joins New Super Mario Bros. 2 in a growing list of games available in digital and cartridge format.
Speaking of New Super Mario Bros. 2, you can now download three DLC packs for Coin Rush mode. If you have been getting bored, or if you want more of a challenge, the packs of three courses are $2.50 each. These packs can be downloaded for either the retail or digital version of the game.
Continuing with the retail-release theme, but moving on to a completely different genre, you can download a free fashion contest demo of Style Savvy: Trendsetters on your 3DS eShop.
Pokémon Dream Radar hits the 3DS eShop on October 7, and it will allow you to catch Pokémon in a brand new way, using augmented reality.
If that was not enough, three more games are also available from the 3DS eShop . Cave Story adds a third dimension to the classic, Samurai G looks like a great side-scrolling action game, and Dr. Mario joins us from the Game Boy days. For fans of the Nintendo Video app, check out Dinosaur Office: New Owners.
While that might be enough, Nintendo has not ignored the DSi and Wii. For chess fans, Academy: Chess Puzzles comes to DSiWare. Drop Zone: Under Fire brings the thrill of sky-diving to WiiWare, but add in a ton of action and robot overlords.
Is that all? Nope! Nintendo also wants to thank you for downloading select 3DS eShop games by giving out Donkey Kong: Original Edition. This title is a special version that will only be available in this manner until January 6, 2013.
(Bonus: If you look on the Donkey Kong: Original Edition website, you will see the list of eligible titles [Paper Mario: Sticker Star, Style Savvy: Trendsetters, Crosswords Plus, Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone!, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask], which include some announcement dates. Paper Mario will be available on November 11, and Style Savvy will be available October 22.)
