Nintendo Download – September 20, 2012

While everyone awaits the launch of the Wii U this November, Nintendo has released their next round of digital games for DSi, 3DS, and Wii. This week’s list looks small but mighty.

For DSiWare, we get eight classic-looking LED-handheld style games in Retro Pocket. The 3DS gets a good looking trick-surfing side-scroller in Rising Board and the free demo of The “Denpa” Men: They Came by Wave. Rounding out the list is La-Mulana, a new “Metroid-vania” archeology adventure for WiiWare.

Nintendo also wants you to know about two other events in their digital world this week. The first is Meat or Die, and their next 3DS video entitled “Meat or Die: Naomi.” Check it out on the free Nintendo Video app. Also, you should know that the Pokédex 3D app will no longer be available for download after October 1, 2012. If you have not downloaded this free Pokémon app, do it soon, or you will not be able to get it again.

    I played through the demo of Denpa men. I’m not a huge fan of “Mystery Dungeon”-style games, and the battle system seemed a bit too shallow for my likiing. I’ll be sure to read about the game once it’s released to see if there’s any depth, but at this point I can’t say that I’m sold.

    I’m interested in La Mulana, but not very interested in picking up my Wii to do so…. maybe it’s because the poor thing sounds like a chainsaw. Oh Wii U, you’re not coming quickly enough…

      I watched the trailer for this yesterday and it looked oh so freaking ridiculous…the actors and all. The game looks okay, but not interesting enough for me to pick up. Honestly, I’m not even sure if I will bother with the demo.

    I loved the demo. The game reminds me so much of Earthbound and Dragon Quest. Although simple, there’s a surprising amount of depth to it. Will definitely be downloading it next week. It’s awesome how you can also transfer your demo save file to the full version. Nice touch, Genius Seniority/Nintendo
