Super Mario 3D Land Demo – Impressions from Best Buy

Guess what? Best Buy has a demo of Super Mario 3D Land! At their 3DS demo station, they used to have demos of certain games like Pilotwings Resort and Steel Diver and they’d switch them out over time. Well now they’ve replaced that with what they’re calling “Nintendo 3DS Interactive Game Demos & Trailers”. I took a look at it and they have demos of all first party Nintendo 3DS titles out now, except Pokemon Rumble Blast… but they also have a demo of World 1-1 of Super Mario 3D Land! No, you can’t download the demos to your 3DS or anything, but if you’re at Best Buy, then definitely check that out.

Pretty sweet way of checking out various games. On the menu, it was showing a video displaying the various features of the 3DS. It listed New Releases, Recommended Games, and you could also search for a game. I also liked how once you selected to start a demo, there was a screen telling you about the 3D slider before the demo booted. Also note that I couldn’t shut down the 3DS so there’s no way to do the trick to get to the HOME menu like before. I also tried the Nintendo Zone on my own 3DS but I kept getting errors… from what I saw though, not much new.

So check out the video above showing off the new demo station at Best Buy. From my brief time with Super Mario 3D Land, I enjoyed it. I played World 1-1 three times (the video above was my second time) and found all of its secrets. The controls took a little bit of getting used to, but after a minute I got the hang of it. The 3D helped a teeny bit, but this level wasn’t anything special so I didn’t truly get to test it out. The Tanooki power-up was fun, I enjoyed that… and I liked using the gyroscope to zoom in on Toad. It was an enjoyable first level and I’m looking forward to the full game more than ever! So definitely head on over to your local Best Buy and play World 1-1 so you can see what the game is like. Enjoy!
