3DS Slide Pad Expansion releasing December 10th in Japan for 1500 yen

Despite being a no show at the “Nintendo 3DS Conference 2011″, the 3DS Slide Pad Expansion IS indeed real and it’s up on the official Japanese Nintendo site. It’s releasing on December 10th in Japan for 1500 yen (almost $20). The Slide Pad expansion will use 1 AAA battery, since it needs some power to connect via IR to the 3DS. Seems to be just an add-on right now, maybe they won’t redesign the 3DS… or if they do, it won’t be anytime soon, maybe late next year. The website also lists that it’s compatible with the following games so far…

- Monster Hunter Tri G
- Resident Evil: Revelations
- Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D
- Ace Combat 3D: Cross Rumble
- Dynasty Warriors Versus
- Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance

Interesting that no first party titles are on that list yet. Also, any supporting titles will have this icon on the back of the game box:
