Death to the Friend Code?

Multiple sources are reporting that Nintendo’s next home console will not utilize the much hated Friend Code system for its online component. We do not have 100% confirmation this is in fact going to happen. Though, if it does, what exactly will they replace it with? We do not know just yet, but Ubisoft is one company that is embracing the online component for Wii U wholeheartedly, especially with the upcoming “Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Online,” which will be released for Nintendo’s next home console and PC.

This news supposedly comes from a third-party roundtable discussion with Nintendo at E3 2011. The expo will end on June 9, so there is still a chance we could get more info until then.

False. No such news was reported. I was posting all the news from the developer roundtable.

I’ve read it from several sources. Are you sure? Was there a live-feed of the roundtable?

There were live blogs. I’m 100% sure they didn’t say that. They mentioned the game would have friend lists and you could friend people, but then they refused to answer any questions about online play for the system or anything and said ask Nintendo. Multiple sites jumped to conclusions and some reported it from those sites.
