Super Mario Galaxy 2 Secrets
Unlockable: Luigi
Get “The Flotacious Blimp Fruit” Star in the Tall Trunk Galaxy to unlock Luigi for play on certain levels. You can talk to Luigi at the start of a level to control him. Beat the level and you’ll unlock a time trial “ghost.”
Beat the game and you’ll be able to walk into a door on Starship Mario (on Mario’s forehead, just below the main area) and transform into Luigi to play any level.
Unlockable: Staff Ghosts
Beat a level using Luigi to unlock a “ghost” recorded by the game’s developers. You can try and beat this ghost as it makes its way through the level at mach speed!
Unlockable: Green Stars
Beat the game after you get the 120 gold stars and you’ll unlock 120 more green stars to collect!
World S
Successfully complete World 6 to unlock World S.
Grandmaster Galaxy
Collect all 120 gold stars and 120 green stars to unlock the Grandmaster Galaxy in World S. This is a 2D level with a Comet Medal and one star to collect.
Hint: 1-Up Mushrooms on Spaceship Mario
You can collect several 1-Up Mushrooms on Spaceship Mario. As you collect stars, the following 1-Up options will appear on Spaceship Mario.
* Grab Yoshi off of the “nose” and use the star pegs to swing up to a hidden island with 10 fruit. Eat them all for a 1-Up.
* Grab a Cloud Flower and make platforms to reach a 1-Up on a cloud high above.
* Spin into the random item block for a chance at a 1-Up.
* Near Mario’s left ear (your right) is a warp pipe that takes you to a 1-Up minigame. Feed the Luma to spin a number of random item blocks for a chance to win 1-Ups.
Hint: Super Ground Pound
Jump, shake the Wii-Remote to spin and QUICKLY press Z to perform a super ground pound. This move will allow you to hone-in on enemies below you; a heat-seeking butt-stomp, if you will.
Comet Stars
When do they start to appear? It’s still slightly unclear… There are reports that after you get 10 Comet Stars, they then begin to appear. Some say after World 2 (They may be because most people get 10 or more Comet Starts by this point).
Missing the Cosmic Coin in Sky Station Galaxy?
A lot of people seem to have missed this coin… To fin the Cosmic Coin in the Sky Station Galaxy go on the cylinder with the white train looking platforms on the tracks, go to the one of the far end, ride it until you see it. Its in mission 1, not 2.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 – Cheats – Infinite Lives
Go to the “Supermassive Galaxy”. There are 3 Koopa Troopas in a cylindrical area. Then run to the right and a make a long jump to land over the giant Koopas shell, and gradually keep right (you can release A button). You´ll get unlimited extra lives for free!
Another way to get infinite lives in the “Huge Trouble With Big Wigglers” level in Supermassive Galaxy is by going to the 1UP Mushroom floating above the gap between the “Tip Network TV” block and the next block. Long Jump over this gap to collect the 1UP, and then Long Jump back and speak to the TV. The TV will show you how to perform the Long Jump through a short “Tip Network” video. Once the video is finished, the 1UP mushroom will appear again. Collect the 1UP, and talk to the TV, it the 1UP will appear again. Repeat this as many times as desired.
Secret World
Successfully complete the game to unlock World 7, Secret World.
Control Luigi
Collect “The Flotacious Blimp Fruit” star in the Tall Trunk Galaxy to be able to talk to Luigi at the beginning of certain levels and control him.
Yoshi’s infinite flutter jump
Hold A to jump, and before finishing the fluttering (while still holding A), press Z to crouch mid-air. Quickly release A, then press A again, and repeat. This may require some practice. This move will allow you to slowly go anywhere.
Deposit the indicated number of Star Bits to change the appearance of Toad:
1,000 Star Bits: Toad wears glasses.
2,000 Star Bits: Toad has a spear and shield.
4,000 Star Bits: Toad has a pickaxe.
Co-op mode sound effects
Press Up, Down, Left, or Right on controller two to make sound effects on player one’s Wii-mote. Press Minus, Plus, 1, and 2 on controller one to make sound effects on player two’s Wii-mote.
