HD Nintendo DS With Motion Sensor In The Works!

[Above is just an "artist's rendition" don't wet your pants just yet]

The Asahi Shimbun has an interview with Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo, where he comments on a successor to the Nintendo DS. Iwata tells the paper:

The future handheld will be able to output high resolution graphics and have a motion sensor.

While Nintendo is developing the machine, Iwata did not set a release date. Instead, he mentioned DS sales in North America reached an all time high in 2009.

Most forums are buzzing about a Fall 2010 date, we shall see!

As much as this seems really cool, as I said in our forums, it doesn’t surprise me a bit. It actually makes sense. Better graphics always come, and motion control should be in there if they want to continue to oust the iPhone/Touch. And I’m not sure how much they will hold off on this. Like Iwata said, current DS and DSi sales are still going great!

Just to clarify, the article doesn’t say anything about “high definition” a.k.a. HD, it says “high resolution” which is different meaning it’s not as good. I doubt it will release in Fall 2010… a 2011 release is much more likely, especially with the DSi XL coming this year.

Yeah, you’re right DW. The word HD is thrown around a lot lately “HD RADIO!!!” and I guess I was typing too quick and now I’m part of the “HD Everything” problem… hahaha.
