RUMOR: Wii 2 to have Blu-Ray drive, 1080p support, Q3 2010 worldwide release

Wow, this month has been full of big rumors, especially for systems. We had that whole Nvidia rumor for the next-gen DS, and now we have a rumor for Wii 2. MaxConsole has a rumor on the successor to Wii that claims was leaked from an “internal source of the marketing Nintendo France Service”. Here is what they claim Wii 2 will include…

- Blu-Ray drive for games and movies, as well as piracy protection
- 1080p and lower resolution support
- Worldwide, same day release in Q3 2010
- Trade-in program available to trade in original Wii for a cheaper price on Wii 2.
- Announcement will be made one month before release date, with huge publicity and viral marketing

First things first, I don’t believe it. 2010 is too soon, I think, and I don’t really believe the whole trade-in program stuff. Having said that, this source does have some credibility. A couple months before Wii was released, MaxConsole did leak some specs for Wii and if you look at it now… it seems they were right, despite the great numbers of people who thought it was fake. And so, I’d say to take this rumor with a grain of salt. It’s not very believable to me, but then again, I didn’t believe they would release a DSi with just a bigger screen so soon… so who knows what’s up with this. What do you think, true or false?

    This has to be a roumour surley not only is it too soon but they are just releasing a black version of the wii console and some how i cant see nintendo taking on blue ray for their next console. Blue ray is not even safe from piracy anyway.

    Well, I’d say this is half true.
    I have no doubt Nintendo is currently working on the Wii 2…and it plans to have those features.
    My guess…within the company, they are projecting Q3 2010 as the finished-and-release-it date…but you know how Nintendo is with release dates.

    My guess is the Q3 2010 is just an optimistic release date for a system currently being worked on.

    I hope the wii 2 comes out soon, and I hope they have blu ray for it also. I had a wii, but I sold it because of the lack of technology. The games would be better if it was on blu ray, meaning better graphics and longer games. I know wii sold the most consoles so far, but as a long time nintend fan, (played nintendo since I was 4 years old) I didn’t like the wii. The games today for the wii suck. Even the mario games suck because they are no longer than mario games back in the day. To be honest with you, I hated the controls for the wii. I hope they improve the wii 2, or I’m not buying. This is what I want in the wii 2.

    2. Be able to play blu ray, dvd’s, cd’s, etc.
    3. Have blu ray discs for games
    3. Have better controllers, and better controls for games.
    4. Tons of GB
    5. Better games period.
    That’s all I’m asking for Nintendo. If you want me to be a Nintendo fan again, do us a favor and improve the technology. IT’S 2010!!!It’s not 1999 anymore. Get with the program nintendo. It’s time to update now.
