Silent Hill: Shattered Memories – Box Art
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is a re-imagining of the original 1999 Silent Hill game.
Plot
The game will follow a similar plot to the original: The protagonist Harry Mason searching for his daughter, Cheryl, in the mysterious town of Silent Hill, following her disappearance after a car accident.
Gameplay
Throughout the game, the player will be observed and evaluated by the game, and their actions will have an effect on multiple aspects of play, including characters’ attitudes and clothing. Different areas may also be unlocked, and Silent Hill and its attendant monsters can also change accordingly. Harry is equipped with a cell phone, which can check the map with a GPS interface, receive text- and audio-messages, take pictures, and call numbers. The player can also use it to zoom in on the environment. Checking scattered diary pages and the like have also been removed; now the player may search the environment by looking at it and utilize the above-mentioned handheld device for zooming in on small text and objects.
According to producer Tomm Hulett, the way the story is told will depend on how players play the game with all areas being accessible. Combat has been removed from the game in favor of evading monsters. In the Wii version, the Wii Remote will be used for puzzle solving, to control the player’s flashlight and as a cell phone with global positioning system and camera features.
