Nintendo DSi Browser updated in Japan [Update: Europe too] July 29, 2009

Japanese DSi owners will now find an update to the DSi Browser in the DSi Shop for them to download for free. What does the update do? Well, two of the people that downloaded it said they didn’t notice anything different. Maybe it’s just bug fixes? Or maybe… now this could be a stretch, but maybe this update is in preparation for the DSi system update that will add Facebook Connect to the DSi as Nintendo mentioned at E3. Or I could be completely wrong and it’s just bug fixes or something. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Update: It seems that the new DSi Browser in Japan still has Opera version 9.5, but the build was changed from 446 to 507 (it’s build 483 in the US by the way). Sounds like just bug fixes to me.

Update 2: Supposedly it’s on the Europe DSi Shop too. According to one user, it seems to be loading a bit faster and text can now be made larger or smaller while in text mode.

    Updated in US: changed from Opera/483 to Opera 507
    Both are still classified as version 9.5

    Updated the browser not too long ago. I don't see any diffrence whatsoever. I did upload faster, though. Probably just bug fixes, but I hope there is more to it.

  • Hopefully it will fix the dreaded canvas transparency bug that we've found at DSiPaint and DSiCade.

    oh btw,u must do 2 updates...first u must go to system update.It loads for a few moments (as if a bigger thing was downloading).then go to DSiWARE shop and select the Free section.Download the DS Browser update ... it will download as if u would download the whole thing altogether.Bug fixes arent that big... or maybe im just talking nonsense

    I confirm, the DS Browser was updated.I just recieved a notice from DSiWARE shop that i must update.It updated for a while and then i saw that my DS Browser has an update (didnt show anywhere...i assumed it would be it,dont ask me why).
    It does browse quite faster.and when i go to youtube it doesnt give me the "this plugin is not installed" crap,but instead it only reads that i need a flash player.
    Bug fixes,maybe... but i HOPE it is more to it than that. IT IS A HOPE IN VAIN ,since we are talking about Nintendo...but a man can still dream,no ?
