@Rob:
The game should automatically detect the Wii MotionPlus attachment. I have yet to play Virtua Tennis 2009 or Grand Slam Tennis since I have heard mixed reviews on those games, so I can’t help you there. But it should automatically detect it.

I bought this to go with grand slam tennis,to be honest I can`t tell the difference with or without attached. Not sure if I am doing something wrong but motion plus with this game aint doing a lot for me.I find attaching the nunchuck makes the game even harder to control. So does it need to be setup?

@Mack2D2: Well stated. Essentially Wii MotionPlus connects to the Wii Remote and never needs to be removed (except for use with a few accessories) so it’s like an extension or an upgrade as you stated.

I boycott peripherals… I haven’t gotten any except for the “wii wheel” and the only reason I have that is because it came with Mario Kart, there was no additional cost involved. For those of us fed up with peripherals, I have a new take that we should consider when thinking about the MotionPlus… and that take is the realization that this is a SYSTEM UPGRADE, not a peripheral. When we look at the Wii console, we have to realize that unlike the other consoles, the controller is a huge part of the system. With an xbox or playstation, you can enjoy the use of any of a thousand 3rd party controllers all with their different variations, and all with minimal impact on the performance of the console. In regards to the Wii, without the controller, it really doesn’t exist. Any upgrade to the controller that strengthens it, or makes it more accurate, such as the MotionPlus, is therefor a system upgrade and not just some lame peripheral.

FieryPhoenix, I think you are misunderstanding what Wii MotionPlus can do. It doesn’t make it less accurate, it makes things more accurate. You can’t emulate the things you do with Wii MotionPlus with buttons. Sure, buttons are easier, but if you can master Wii MotionPlus, then that’s when you’ll really shine.

And I know I did say that it will depend on games. I said I saw the “potential” for Wii MotionPlus. As for the hype comment, it’s easy for things to look great on-screen but not be the same in person. I am very skeptical of Project NATAL for the 360, and will not know if it really works or not until I actually try it firsthand. After playing Tiger Woods, I know that it can work. Wii MotionPlus delivers on what Nintendo said it would do.

Oh wait… guess who it is. It’s Trist a.k.a. MOMZ a.k.a. CoolTrainer a.k.a. the Sony fanboy roommate that I have. I should have known that you would try and dispute these claims. No matter what I say, you probably won’t be pleased.

Thats quite a large claim to make that the Wii MotionPlus will truly “Redefine” the way that we play games. Tiger Woods isnt all that great and really the disc golf is the only appeal. Plus when I tried this game out, the controls felt a bit to slidy while playing golf. I may have be able to emulate the motion of playing golf but it is still less accurate than if I used time button presses on a normal controller.

How will one game define that it lives up to the hype anyway? Would we not need to see it tested on other games, perhaps it may work for golf, but what about gaming experiences in other contexts; I think that it is too early to claim that it is “Redefining” the Wii experience until we see your analysis of it in these other games.

Thanks skunkchop! And as Maikeruu said, most games come with it. Tiger Woods is great with it, and Wii Sports Resort and Red Steel 2 look great. Both of those
will come with it as well. That’s three Wii MotionPlus devices right there.
