Zelda: Ocarina of Time coming to the Wii?

Late last night, GameFocus.ca’s Japanese contact over at Nintendo sent them word about something really exciting: a Wii remake of the one of the greatest N64 games ever produced: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. They were also told that an official announcement would be made around April 5, which is the North American launch of the Nintendo DSi.

While the whole announcement made us really excited, announcing the game alongside the launch of the DSi made us ask ourselves one question that went unanswered: Is it going to have some kind of DSi inter-connectivity?

Mark your calendars people and get ready for probably one of the most cool announcements of the year.

I read in a record book for video games that ocarina of time was the best selling game ever. it could be improved some like the master quest also, but make it for the wii.

Ocarina of time on the Wii would be such an awesome thing, I use to play it on Nitendo 64.. just one of my all time favourite games.

Its got to come back :D

I like how Nintendo remakes about 4 games and all of a sudden has this reputation for only doing remakes... you're all being ridiculous.

I doubt this is true, but a remake of OoT would be most awesome, because the install base of the Wii is so much larger than the N64... it would expose more people to one of the greatest Zelda titles made to date. My wife loves Zelda (Link to the Past and Twilight Princess being her favorites so far), but for some reason she can't get over the jagged edge graphics of the N64 title or the control scheme of the classic controller and/or gamecube controllers. I think this would rock, but it's probably just some lame rumor.

Great, another Wii remake, ain't we missing this sort thing lately ?! Keep on rocking 'Tendo and please only make remakes ! It's what we love ! I mean buying twice the same game is an awesome idea: pikmin, mario tennis, zelda, YEAH !!!

I'm becoming more skeptical with the recent update from the source, that their source was fired and such.

It sounds like the generic hoax. "I has a source." "Oh noz, my source got fired for his leak :(" Etc.

Why would you doubt it? Nintendo loves to re-release things, over and over and over again. Any chance to make money with little to no effort.

Is it April Fools time already?
I'm doubting this but hopefully it's true.

If it's a complete remake, then it might be worth it. But it's already available for the Virtual Console... Better wait til the announcement before getting our hopes up.

Honestly, I'm not sure it needs a remake at all.

Allthough the idea of a OoT remake for the Wii sounds very attractive, it would have to be an actual remake, not a port. Oh yeah, and this does NOT give them an excuse to not release a totaly new Zelda for the Wii, I want that too ;)
