Nintendo DS, The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks

Oli181 from GBATemp: “New Zelda looks better than my description probably makes it sound. Looks like a fairly traditional Zelda portable game, with puzzle dungeons and Phantom Hourglass-style touch mechanics. The train basically works like the boat in PH, running along the overworld (presumably on a rail defined by players). Enemy control mechanics look pretty nice — link distracted a big Zora with a controlled shadow guard, then snuck around to hit it from behind.”

    haha Link’s not fighting a giant enemy crab, it’s an ExciteBot!

    Yeah, that’s a bit of a letdown.

    Okay that is the biggest bit of bullshit ive ever seen. Try again. x

    @Bullshit

    I wouldn’t say it’s that bad…just a little bit of a letdown. Phantom Hourglass was surprisingly popular…they’re just riding on that with this title.

    Still disappointed. Since the DS first came out and I saw that it could make better 64 games (Mario 64 DS), I always hoped they’d do a new Zelda with gameplay like Ocarina of Time (even cel shaded would be nice). No, they go for the classic style with innovative controls. So predictable.

    Hey, I loved the Phantom Hourglass (except for that hopelessly annoyingly repetitive dungeon that took up half the game). This one looks like it might be a direct sequel, if somehow the water leveled out in the world. There’s a baton in one of the screenshots and Link looks exactly the same.

    I would’ve rather had a Zelda Wii announcement, though. I’m really curious to see where they’ll take the 3D series from here. I suppose if they didn’t announce it today they’re not going to announce it anytime soon. =/
