Apple patents "Wireless Remote Wand"

apple_patent No matter how much effort Nintendo makes to distance its own market from Apple’s, Apple will continue to imitate and attack the gaming giant.

Apple made its first major moves with the iPod Touch, along with bold claims that the Touch was the future of handheld gaming (or some such nonsense). Now we may be seeing an Apple Wiimote.

But, to be fair, I believe that the Applemote would only be used in Apple TV, which I don’t believe has any game-related functions. But… who can tell what the future holds?

    Wow. You did NOT just go there. There’s only so much Nintendo Fanboy-ness I can handle and you crossed the line. Not everything with Touch and/or Motion Control will be imitating Nintendo. Nintendo did NOT invent these, nor did they necessarily make them mainstream. IF that were a sound basis for your argument, then it would be reasonable to say Nintendo OBVIOUSLY copied Palm, because they had touch screen PDAs, which Nintendo obvious stole. it would also be reasonable to say: Those shooting games at the arcades? Yeah, Nintendo OBVIOUSLY stole the control idea from those too.

    Do you hear yourself and how ridiculous you sound? I am in no way implying Nintendo isn’t an amazing company; I own both a Wii and a DS Lite, but it’s narrow minded and foolish to say that no matter what, anything with characteristics similar to either systems is “copying” the gaming giant.

    Ha, you read too deep. I promised articles, I posted articles. I own and play a PSP, PS2, enjoy a little 360 every now and then and intend to buy a Mac.

    Fact is, I rarely touch my Nintendo games.

    Also, Apple has made references to Nintendo and the iPod’s superiority over the DS, and that makes this relevant.

    Besides, who says it isn’t imitation? It makes perfect business sense to imitate what sells.

    You said it, not me. You want my view? Nintendo is just another company, and all that matters to a company is money. AND, Apple saw that Nintendo’s method worked, and they are making the intelligent business choice of imitating it. Call that fanboyism :/

    If I didn’t know better, I’d say you only read the first sentence.

    Disclaimer – I do not hate Nintendo. They pump out some pretty cool games, and I play them every now and then. I would buy a Nintendo console before a competing console any day. Heck, if I didn’t like Nintendo, I wouldn’t be here.

    But it is just a company.
