Ghostbusters: Wii & 360 Side-By-Side
In response to the feedback we received on the new Wii and DS screenshots of the upcoming Ghostbusters game, I’ve decided to put up a side-by-side to answer some of your questions.
This is a screenshot from the Wii game (note Egon Spengler on the right):

And below is from the XBOX 360 version of Egon Spengler:

This is proof that the 360, PS3 and PC versions will have a look much closer to the movies while the Wii version will look similar to a cartoon. The environments are not as detailed and the characters are caricatures. It’s up to you to decide if you would like to play what might be an extension of the movie or an extension of one of the cartoon series. It basically comes down to graphics vs. controls — a decision Wii owners always have to make when it comes to 3rd party multi-platform games.
I am, however, surprised that the style is so vastly different between the consoles. I knew they were building the Wii version separately or from the ground up or something, but I didn’t expect it to look like a different game altogether, especially when we’ve had PS2 games like Final Fantasy X, Metal Gear Solid 3 and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas that have been capable of life-like models and large environments. Perhaps it’s a marketing ploy. I’m currently undecided. We’ll just have to wait for more details.
The graphics aren’t a new development, however. According to an old Game Informer issue (November or December 2007, I believe), the Wii version had been set to look cartoony since more than a year ago. The article also mentioned that the game was going to focus on the multi-player aspect, toting a 4-player multi-player exclusive to the Wii.
