Nintendo denies Bob his game

Thank you for your interest for Authorized Developer status for Nintendo DS.

We have completed our evaluation of your application and are unable to offer your company Authorized Developer status at the present time.

In evaluating developers, Nintendo looks for relevant game development experience.
In addition, Nintendo looks for secure business facilities, sufficient equipment and staffing, financial stability and other attributes that would distinguish the developer.

Nintendo provides Authorized Developers with highly confidential information and many of Nintendo’s Licensees rely on recommendations and referrals by Nintendo to Authorized Developers.

For these reasons, Nintendo exercises a very high level of discretion in approving only a select number of applicants.

In accordance with our policies, we are not able to re-evaluate requests for developer status for at least six months.
Again, we appreciate your interest, and welcome any questions or concerns you might have regarding this decision.

Best regards,

Software Development Support Group & Licensing Department Nintendo of America & Nintendo of Europe

In case you haven’t heard of this story, Bob “locked” himself in his room on a 100 day protest back in July 2008.  He wasn’t coming out until Nintendo sent him a dev kit, so that he could get his game to publishers.  Check out his wacky site for more

So Bratz and Petz live up to Nintendo’s standards, but not this?! I would probably buy this!

    LOL yeah I guess so.
But to tell you the truth it doesn’t look like that good of a game. It’s really cool that he built a game from the ground up by him self but that doesn’t mean anything in Nintendo’s eye’s. I guess he will just have to try and sell the idea to another company that can actually do something with it.

I know this is only a demo, but it looks really good, especially for being made by one guy. I wouldn’t mind checking this out. I wonder if this demo is available on homebrew…

I’ve found how strict Nintendo are with accepting new developers as well. I applied for developer status on WiiWare about a year ago – and did so with an established corporation that had a secure office – and Nintendo never granted us the status.

Yeah I can’t believe nintendo allows games like Petz and stuff, but not this! It really seemed like an awesome game. I say Robert should keep marketing this in some way and hopefully get someone else like maybe Square-Enix to publish this game. Maybe if word gets out and people really do like it, Nintedo will re-consider their bad decision. Besides, 5 years and STILL rejected? That’s really harsh.
