Mario finds himself looking to buy some items at Toad’s house. Toad has his own system for pricing items, he uses vowels and consonants. A mushroom is 45¢ and a star is 23¢. According to the same system, how much does the Pwing cost?

[spoiler name="View Answer Here"]ANSWER: 29¢. Consonants are worth 6¢, vowels 5¢.

    That was a decent one. Not overly difficult, but to make you think. I love these!!!

    I have a sense for patterns, and I actually found another way that the relation between the amount of vowels and consonants satisfies both ‘mushroom’ to 45 and ‘star’ to 23.
    # of vowels + 1 = first digit
    # of consonants = second digit
    However, this gives me 25 as the result for ‘pwing’. So close, eh?

    For the people who are trying to figure it out mathematically(without guessing random numbers), and are stuck, here’s the way to do it:

    v = amount vowels are worth in cents
    c = amount consonants are worth in cents

    3v + 5c = 45
    v + 3c = 23
    v = 23-3c
    3(23-3c) + 5c = 45
    69-9c+5c = 45
    -4c = -24
    c = 6
    v + 3(6) = 23
    v + 18 = 23
    v = 5
    Now I sub-in to the amount of vowels and consonants in ‘PWing’.
    n = amount Pwing is worth
    n = v + 4c
    n = 5 + 4(6)
    n = 5 + 24
    n = 29
    Therefore, Pwing is worth twenty-nine cents.

    Great Job, skunkjob. I couldn’t have said it better

    Thank you very much, hey_suburbia.
    By the way, it’s ‘skunkchop’, with a ‘ch’. Not that it matters.
    Keep up the awesome puzzles!
