Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick has confirmed that DJ Hero, a dance-music themed take on the Guitar Hero formula, is in development and will be out later this year.

The game will come bundled with a record-deck peripheral and will more likely than not be released on a wide range of formats.

Eurogamer quotes Kotick at the ongoing World Economic Forum in Davos as stating: “We have this product called DJ Hero coming out later this year, which is a turntable that you actually can play competitively and spin discs and mix songs.”

The game was seemingly confirmed late last year after trance star DJ Tiesto spoke of his involvement in a fan letter.

  • Now this is the type of music rhythm game what I've been waiting for console release.
LOL @ Tiesto tracks. Oh man, I hope we'll see some of my favorites rather than the cheesy mainstream stuff.

This is great, and Activision Blizzard too! \:D/
