Marble Saga: Kororinpa Hands-on
Craig Harris IGN:
TweetThe core game mechanics remain the same: rolling a ball around a 3D environment by tilting the Wii Remote. But far more has been added to the experience, including more levels (150 of them right from the start) a storyline following a new character Anthony the ant, brand new environments with different maze challenges, and several unlockables including new balls with different attributes that come into play while rolling the marble around the level. And if you didn’t like playing with the Wii remote aimed at the television, you can change the control scheme so you hold the controller in its “classic NES” orientation.
If you have a Wii Balance Board, you’ll gain access to 30 original mazes to play. Hudson restricted Balance Board control to these levels because in the main game, many levels require players to rotate the Wii Remote almost all the way around. If you don’t have a Balance Board, don’t worry, you can play these levels the traditional Wii Remote way as well.
What’s really cool is the potential for user generated content: Marble Saga: Kororinpa has a full level creator where you can create simple or complex challenges that can be sent to your friends via WiiConnect24. Hudson will also continue to fill the pot with its own level creations: the company will have at least 15 ready to go at launch, with others showing up weeks after release. The company even plans to hold creator contests; the best levels submitted to Hudson as contest entries will be sent to everyone as “official” Hudson downloads.
On top of the user generated content delivery via WiiConnect24, Hudson will also support Wi-Fi Leaderboards so players can check in to see who’s got the fastest time in each of the different levels in Marble Saga: Kororinpa.
