Is the Wii Opera Browser getting an update or not?

undefined

When the news of the Wii’s Opera Browser getting an update hit, everyone was excited. Hey, who doesn’t want more features? However, some people have begun to doubt the source of the news. The news was reported on GoNintendo and it was said to be from Game Reactor magazine. Weeks passed and we have yet to hear a single thing on this update. There are no scans from this magazine and in fact, there’s no proof at all that it’s real. ttwashere on NSider 2 decided to contact Nintendo about the update, and a Nintendo rep told him that “there are currently no plans to upgrade the browser”. I’ll be bummed if the update isn’t real, but if it is then how come we haven’t gotten more proof about it? I’ll try and contact Opera to ask them about the update.

Here’s the old article on the new features: http://www.wiinintendo.net/2008/11/11/wii-opera-browser-20/

Again, I’m still assuming that the Wii Speak feature would be used in part of the online co-op web surfing.

Imagine the possibility for Flash game devs to finally be able to make an online multiplayer game with voice chat? That would be DOPE~! \:D/
