Someone who wanted to pre-order it said they contacted retailers about 5 days after it was announced and they were out of pre-orders. Also, the Japanese people do tend to want to stand in lines to get things, as another person noted. I have a feeling it will be a big launch as usual. And even if it isn't, I think as word gets out about the DSi, more and more people will want it. It was announced basically a month before it was revealed and I wonder how much advertising Nintendo was able to do in that time. Like with the DS Lite, excitement will probably build up over time.
