Wii Music song list so far [UPDATED] October 14, 2008

Hate me for saying this, but I’ve changed my mind about Wii Music. I think I finally understand Nintendo’s philosophy behind the title, which most people don’t seem to get. Don’t get me wrong, Wii Music could have been so much more appealing to gamers. But as a toy (which is what it is, as Nintendo have said), it actually doesn’t seem that bad. Anyways, Wii Music will have 50 songs, and I’m surprised that we don’t know the full song list yet. We now know 40 of the songs, and here they are:

  • Legend of Zelda Overworld Theme
  • Super Mario Bros. Theme
  • F-Zero Mute City
  • Animal Crossing Wild World
  • Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
  • Yankee Doodle
  • Ode to Joy
  • Material Girl
  • Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go
  • Do Re Mi
  • Carmen
  • My Grandfather’s Clock
  • Eine Kleine Nachtmusik
  • Frere Jacques
  • Sur le pont d’Avignon
  • The Flea Waltz
  • Turkey in the Straw
  • Oh, My Darling Clementine
  • Scarborough Fair
  • Long, Long Ago
  • Little Hans
  • O Christmas Tree
  • From Santurtzi to Bilbao
  • Sakura Sakura
  • Troika
  • La Bamba
  • Over the Waves
  • La Cucaracha
  • There’s Chariots of Fire
  • Daydream Believer
  • I’ll Be There
  • Every Breath You Take
  • I’ve Never Been Me
  • Please Mr. Postman
  • September
  • Sukiyaki
  • The Loco-Motion
  • Woman
  • Jingle Bell Rock
  • Bridal Chorus

UPDATE: We now know more songs thanks to IGN’s preview, and they have been added to the list.

No it's a new game you can buy (I'm assuming you know what a game is, right?)

I am sorry, I am a newbie to Wii. Just got my Wii (japan version) last 2 days. But I am not sure what Wii Music is. Is it a program in the Wii main menu?
  • Densha

"a lot of the songs in Donkey Konga for example are meant to go with lyrics"

I don't understand what you mean. Some of them had lyrics, others didn't. What do lyrics have to do with it?

Wii Music chose plenty of songs that have lyrics, but they're probably instrumental versions. I just think they chose crap songs that were in the free domain because they were, well, free.

@Jim: You do realize this is only half of the songs, right? And if you think about it, a lot of the songs in Donkey Konga for example are meant to go with lyrics and you can't exactly do that with Wii Music. It's only instrumental music. Yea, it could be much better, but for Wii Music's purpose, it makes sense.

...and after seeing that song list, I've changed my mind as well. In the other direction. What kinda crap song list is this? Twinkle Twinkle Little Star? Yankee Doodle? Frere Jacque? What, no Row Row Row Your Boat? Were the royalties too high?

I wasn't expecting Guitar Hero/Rock Band type songs, but come on, this is worse than Donkey Konga.
