Secret of Mana on Virtual Console
I haven’t posted on here for quite a while because, to be honest, Hattrick is a posting madman and if he doesn’t beat me to the punch… one of you other over achieving bastards do
One of my favorite games of all time has been released on the virtual console this week, and while I’m no forum junky or anything by any means, it seems to have done so with little to no fan fare.  Where is the celebration?  Where is the grand parade through downtown full of properly themed floats and big marching bands playing music composed by Hiroki Kikuta?  You owe it to yourself to get this game for 800pts, and thoroughly enjoy it for hours on end.  What makes it even better is that you can share the experience with 2 other friends (once you’ve gotten far enough in the storyline to have 3 characters)… being as it is 3 player. For those of you with a girlfriend who rarely gets into a game with you but is able to enjoy the simplicity in the old Zelda games, Secret of Mana is a perfect step in the direction of getting her involved in something more RPG’esque… not to say this isn’t an RPG, but it’s not what you typically expect from an RPG made by Squaresoft/Square Enix, because the battle is an amazingly awesome, and not nearly common enough, hybrid between that of old Zelda games and Final Fantasy games.  Gone is the turn based system of Final Fantasy, but still present is the magic abilities, items, leveling up, and reliance upon particular characters abilities.  Oh, and don’t forget the awesome storyline.
The reason for my post?  To make sure you realize how awesome a deal this is.  For a lot of virtual console games, it would actually be cheaper to go the Ebay route and buy the cartridge itself… but for this one you would be very lucky if you were able to score this game for $30.00.  I can personally guarantee that you will enjoy this game, and if you don’t, I will fully refund your purchase (that is of course a lie about the refund, but still, you will enjoy this game).
