RUMOR: Classic franchise being revived for Wii, revealed at conference September 30, 2008

Gamekyo are reporting a rumor of an announcement coming at Nintendo’s conference this week. They claim that Nintendo will announce a new title for Wii that is a revival of a classic franchise. Here’s what they had to say:

“We can announce today that Nintendo will reveal a new game for the Wii during this event which is actually an old franchise that everyone is waiting for.”

Okay everyone, place your bets. Is it Kid Icarus or Punch-Out? I think it’s very likely it’s one of the two, and I’m going to have to guess Kid Icarus. I knew this conference would deliver (my predictions for this conference, posted on WiiFuse, just keep coming true) and it looks like it will.

    Haha! True that. I also think it's strange that people call things like Mario and Zelda franchises, when they're really just trademarks. Franchise kind of implies they let you make your own Mario/Zelda games for your local region.

    Just thought about something.. Kid Icarus isn't actually a "franchise" really. It was one game. So it seems like that doesn't fit anymore...

    This screams Kid Icarus. People have been clamoring for it ever since Smash Brawl was announced. I bet it'll be a 3D Icarus. Should be fun.

    @Krishna: Why would it be? If you mean the Art Style games, two more have already been announced so it can't be those. And Gamekyo said it's something we care about.
