Rock Band 2 Rumored Naked September 26, 2008

A USA Today article posted this afternoon, according to WiiFanBoy, revealed Rock Band 2’s lack of functionality for the Wii and PS2 versions, making it no better than the first installment. The new release will reportedly also be missing a World Tour mode, create-a-character mode, downloadable content and online multiplayer, to the dismay of any Wii owners holding out hope for the franchise. This puts Guitar Hero: World Tour on top, as Rock Band will most likely not be able to compete againgst GHWT, which will have all of the features mentioned above.

Mysteriously, however, the USA Today article was changed within an hour after the WiiFanBoy posting. The new article does not mention the Wii or PS2 versions whatsoever. Perhaps they had an agreement with the makers of the game as to not release that information yet, or perhaps Rock Band is a paid advertiser and USA Today doesn’t want to piss anyone off. Either way, it’s sketchy.

    The only feature I care about is, can I use my GH controllers to play the Wii version of Rock Band/RB2? If the answer becomes yes, I'll buy it no matter what else is missing. New songs are new songs. As long as I get at least ONE game with DLC and a create-a-band feature I'm good to go.

    But, that's just me.
