Wii Chess goes WiiWare in Japan

null

Chess fans in Europe were surprised when Nintendo released Wii Chess as a retail title. Not only did they add the Wii name to it (which they typically reserve for their big titles like Wii Fit and Wii Music), but they released it in stores. Chess sounds like more of a WiiWare title to me, and that’s exactly what it is in Japan. Next week, Wii Chess will be available for download as a WiiWare title, though under the name of World Chess. Seems like Nintendo figured things out finally and did the right thing. In case you’re wondering, World Chess has everything that Wii Chess has, including online play (and yes, Japanese players will be able to play Europeans that own Wii Chess). I wonder when, or if, we’ll see World Chess in the US. For more details on the game, you can check out its official Japanese page here. Would any of you buy it?
