The 360 outsells Wii in Japan… NOT

null

Recently, there was word that more XBox 360′s were sold than Wii’s in Japan for a week. Well, turns out the report from Enterbrain isn’t accurate. Media Create has released the sales data (and they’re quite a reliable source), stating that Wii outsold the 360 in Japan by only 1500 units (Wii sold 29,686 units and the 360 sold 28,188 units). Looks like Nintendo still remains supreme after all. But to be fair, the numbers are pretty close and it’s going to be tougher for Nintendo in the coming months. But until then, Nintendo fans can sleep well knowing they’re with the winning team.

The more they sell, the less people there are left to sell to.

Makes sense Leo X. It looks like that the Wii has almost been sold to everyone in Japan!

This information is bias though, if you look at the total sales, you’ll notice the Xbox 360 isn’t even close to the Wii in terms of sales. So, when it says “But to be fair, the numbers are pretty close and it’s going to be tougher for Nintendo in the coming months,” it is really wrong.

@ttam: I put that line in there because SO many people apparently are claiming that Wii doesn’t have good games, etc. I think Wii is going very strong, but I had to admit that it’s possible it may not for long. So if you think that’s wrong, then you disagree with the majority of those on WiiNintendo (which I do as well).

Ahhh… I see. Didn’t look at that perspective.

Continuous updates with the Wii may maintain its strong sales, however. The many games coming out may attract even more customers.

There’s no doubt that the sales will go down, everything has an end, its just a matter of when. Personally, I think its going to be a while until the sales decrease.

The Wii appeals to a much larger market than the PS does. Therefore, until Wii has some competition in this market segment, the Wii will continue to dominate amongst families, young children, females, older players, etc.
