    I'm... Not to much of a fan of this one... Seth should have done just a little bit more research...

    Now if Bowser jumped back in with bondage gear THEN it would have been perfect!

    Hahhahahahha - that one is cool :D

    @Leo X

    I believe twice (Three times if you count the cartoon) throughout the canon series they have been referred to as traitors of the mushroom kingdom...

    As to why they look the way they do who knows, (Koopa Magic crap probably) but they most likely used to be Toads according to the US story...

    It's first mentioned in the original SMB institution manual... I've forgotten the second time it was brought up at this point, (I'll google it latter) and as for the cartoon I think it was mentioned in the SMB3 series... Might be the Super Show though...

    It's been a while & my memory is a little fuzzy... But the SMB Instruction Manual is often looked at as the most reliable source on that issue...

    That was hilarious. And screw it, they'll always be mushrooms to me. mushrooms, mushrooms, mushrooms.

    I'm still interested as to the canon of what they are but I just did a quick Google after asking that and everyone kinda says the Japanese name means Chestnut people and that they are mushroom like.

    I know I always thought they were mushrooms until I saw the translations, they look like Mushrooms in contrast to the toadstool people. And you would assume there have to be some mushrooms in the Mushroom World lol.

    That was pretty cool. I know, or at least I think I do, that Goombas in Japanese were evil chestnuts, but what are they as far as the Western world is concerned? I assume that now they may just be "Goombas" and nothing else but are they, for example, canonically said to be not mushrooms in the US?

    The repeated use of the word mushroom there was getting to me lol.
