Interview with Reggie/Miyamoto: Peripherals, Storage solution, and more

There was a Club Nintendo interview done recently with Reggie and Miyamoto. Below are some translated tidbits of it:

- Miyamoto confirmed a new Zelda and Pikmin is in the works, but didn’t say if they would use Wii MotionPlus.

- The peripherals were discussed and Miyamoto said there won’t be many more because they have plenty already.

- In regards to a storage solution, Miyamoto said to expect an announcement in the future since they’re working on something. Reggie says that they’re not working on a hard drive per say, but will have a better solution.

- Reggie was asked about Microsoft’s avatars and said that “copying is a way of flattering, so we’re very flattered”.

- Reggie said Animal Crossing was not casual and GTA: Chinatown Wars will be for the hardcore gamers.

- In regards to a re-design, Reggie said that a re-design comes when the sales go down and not up like with the DS.

Looks like they’re finally going for a storage solution. As long as this storage solution makes it so we can play all our downloaded games easily without having to copy them back to the system, I’m fine.

    Yes, it would be impossible for people to even fill a hard drive. It is good that nintendo is working on a solution but I doubt people have enough games to even fill a 1GB SD card.

    GTA: Chinatown wars is perhaps my favorite news of the whole thing.

    there are 16 channel spaces on each page on the wii menu, there are 4 pages enough room for 64 channels, they should give us enough memory to fill those 64 spots

    I hat that pecie of fokkin crap solution for teamspeka. I want something in my ear that makes me feel that im in the warzone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not a punk is little tiny thing on my tv…why? i dont want it??? Cause i have a ps3 also and my ps3cam is on the tv right on top of the wii sensorbar. So if i put the teamspeak shit on the tv there will be 3 things there: My ps3cam, the sensor bar and the teamspeak shit. And i didnt even mention the camfuture for the wii!!!!!!
    GET RID OF THAT STUPID TEAMSKIN THINGY ON THE TV!!!!

    @MOMZ: I agree. I have a SD card with many VC and WW titles, as well as plenty of save data and more. It still has plenty of space on it. What I want is INSTANT access instead of having to copy things over to it which is insanely annoying.

    For the record, the current storage solution is okay if you’re a child. If you’re an adult gamer, the cards are full. I have a 4 gig card in, and i constantly have to delete stuff, move stuff, or whatever – infact, how are you okay with the amount of time it takes a really small file to copy over???

    @ender: I have a 1 GB SD card, and it has probably close to 10 games on it, as well as save data, Brawl snapshots and replays and stages, and a bit more. It still has plenty of space. But like you said, it’s the time it takes to copy things over that angers me. If Nintendo could allow you to somehow play things off of SD cards and still have those tied to one system (to prevent piracy), then that would be the ideal solution I think.
