Animal Crossing: City Folk to be bundled with WiiSpeak for $69.99 September 7, 2008

At E3, Nintendo unveiled Animal Crossing: City Folk, as well as their WiiSpeak peripheral. Of course, City Folk is going to be the first title to use WiiSpeak, and many thought the two would be bundled together. However, Nintendo said that WiiSpeak would not be bundled with the game and would instead be sold separately for $29.99. But, just a little while ago at a GameStop manager’s conference in Las Vegas, Nintendo announced that Animal Crossing: City Folk would be bundled with WiiSpeak for a MSRP of $69.99. If you don’t want WiiSpeak, Nintendo will still sell the game separately (likely for a price of $49.99). But if you do want both, you can get the bundle to save $10, so that’s always good.

I really enjoyed AC when it came out for the Cube. I also forced many of my friends to purchase it.
I was really excited when it was announced for the DS. After buying it I was disappointed. More of the same with some broken online and hackers ruining everything.
Now that this is Nintendo's "new" exciting game.....well I am not that excited. It looks like more of the same again and now just to sell ANOTHER accessory. Just like there will be one game to sell the 1:1 motion accessory.

Sorry Big N, but after years of buying your un-supported accessories (e-reader, wifi cartridge, wii-target, wiifit ....and so on) I am done buying them. The Wiifit will be the last Nintendo add-on I ever buy.

@Santarex: Here's part of a Nintendo press release:

"Another new feature in Animal Crossing®: City Folk is the ability to visit friends' towns and chat with one another using the new WiiSpeak™ microphone. The WiiSpeak microphone is sold separately at an MSRP of $29.99 and allows Internet voice chat among Wii Friends – not just from person to person but from room to room."

Well, here I thought WiiSpeak would cost $19.99 separately.... I guess getting the bundle would be a good idea.
  • I'm wondering if some third party will make a headset that can be used as well. in my (ignorant) opinion, i don't see why this couldn't be done, at least for the microphone part of it.
