Capcom is properly merchandising Mega Man 9 with two soundtracks, and… energy drinks? Having video game themed beverages isn’t a first for Capcom. They did it for Sengoku Basara 2 and they are doing it again for Mega Man. This month in Japan you can buy a Rockman E-Tank Sports Drink for 137 yen ($1.25). The can even looks like an energy drink so it’s easily identifiable in the vast soft drink space at convenience stores. Mega Man 9 comes out next month in Japan and it feels like it has the biggest launch to date for a downloadable game. Let’s hope this successful marketing strategy paves a path for Mega Man 10 next year.

Haha, I have a small collection of video game themed energy drinks including the Power Up mario one, Donkey Kong jungle juice, Street fighter dragon punch, and Resident Evil T-virus antidote. This Mega man E-tank will go nicely with my set.

I wish they would make a Red, Green, or Blue potion in reference to the Zelda series. Hey, even a bottled fairy would work! \:D/
