Mario Kart Wii Tournament Cheating/Hacking

I read just a couple days ago that some cheating was taking place on the latest official Mario Kart Wii online tournament.  So, I had to check it out for myself.  Astonished, I find that the winner shown on the “globe screen” has a time of .004 seconds (definitely impossible).  However, assuming Nintendo noticed something wrong with this, that same person is not listed when viewing the “Top 10″ screen.  Instead, a more reasonable time is listed in 1st place.  Interested, I did some more research.  There are also several impossible times put up for time trials on various courses…and some seem to be from the same person (Mii).  I will not mention his/her name, because I do not believe he/she should get the recognition they so wanted so bad (bad enough to cheat for).  I will tell you that you can find these times on these tracks as of now:  Koopa Cape (.145 sec.), Grumble Volcano (.167 sec.), and Rainbow Road (.124 sec. & .167 sec.).  The only one that does not show up on the “Top 10″ is the one for Koopa Cape.

Personally, I think it is ridiculous that someone would stoop low enough to hack into the game, network, or whatever just to get a high score online.  Obviously, those times are impossible, so what’s the point?  (If it’s just to get attention, we don’t even know you.)  Not to mention (thank goodness), Nintendo seems to have taken note already.  They aren’t listed on some of the Top 10 lists, so I assume Nintendo has taken them off.  Also, after further research, I found out that other tracks used to have impossible times listed too (i.e. Luigi Circuit), but they are no longer listed as of today.  I hope they have found a solution to this “hack” or whatever it is.  But for those of you out there who are doing something like this, please stop.  It’s stupid and it ruins the game for everyone else.  Are you really that selfish?  Ok, enough of my “preaching.”

Anyone who can find a security flaw and use it to make an impossible time like that is obviously out to show how smart they are in real life situations.

It’s not about getting the high score for them, its proving that they are better than the system.

I think you just have to wait till the timer is on 99:99:99 on the third lap and when it jumps to the next second or something it will be at 0:00:00 again .. i read it somewhere but never tried. It is not cheating, just abusing a bug. But since Nintendo is too stupid to patch their games (see guitar hero 3 mono bug), we will never see an end for this.

The GH3 mono problem was fixed.

But they had to replay the discs.
On xbox they would just release a >1mb update. But Nintendo is not able to patch their games on the console, they have to replace the discs..

they are able to, since they’ve done it for other channels and downloadable games. they just haven’t done it for disc games. i’m not sure how they’d just issue a download to fix an issue like changing a game’s entire music library to stereo instead of mono, though. (i’m not very knowledgeable about that sort of thing though)

the timer does not reset at 99:99.999
it stay there me and my friend did the test

Nope, it´s just some noobs using a new app called Ocarina that lets you modify the games. (Something like Action Replay) You guessed right, thanks to the Homebrew Channel.

ALl you need to do is turn your car around and face the finish line at the start of the race, and the game flags the race finished. its not hard, its not hacking, its Nintendo not bug testing this (lame) game.
