US WiiWare & VC games: 6/02/2008

WiiWare:
Protöthea 1 player, 1000pts
wiiware-protothea
A 2-D top-down shooter from Ubisoft. Control your ship with the analog controller on the nunchuck and use the wiimote to point and aim your guns. 10 missions suggest this is a short game, but the video* over at IGN looks quite appealing.

Toki Tori 1 or 2 player, 1000pts
wiiware-Toki-Tori
A popular game released for the Gameboy color in 2001, Toki Tori has been graphically rehashed with a few new features to boot. The 2nd player doesn’t control any characters, but they can ‘paint’ on the screen with the wiimote to help solve puzzles on each of the 70 levels. The goal: collect all the eggs on each level. The description notes that the Wii Message Board is used in a unique way, what “unique” way they mean, I’m not sure yet. Trailer here*.

Virtual Console:
Ninja Combat 1 or 2 players, 900pts
NinjaCombat_NeoGeo
A side scrolling brawler for the Neo Geo system. One of the earliest Neo Geo games most people remember. Multiple characters to choose from, with some unlockables (if memory serves me right) as well to keep things interesting. This is basically Double Dragon with slightly improved graphics and ninja stars for a distanced attack. If you’re into dumbed down face smashing, gut punting, action games… this is a good VC week for you.

my wii is in desperate need of more memory. It really pisses me off that I’m limited to 512 mb.

Nintendo should be kicking themselves in the balls for all the games people like me ARE NOT buying because we have no space to store them.

I refuse to delete games and store them on an SD card for later too! Having to reinstall your games to play them is BS.

I can’t think of any person who calls themself a gamer who would disagree with you shanoboy… and personally, I can’t see Nintendo entering ’09 without at least announcing that a solution is on the way. I have high hopes for said announcement to come at E3 2008.

im still pissed that NOA hasn’t given us any megaman games yet.

i’ve got a list of classic games i made up before launch that im worried i’ll never be able to complete.
