Beyond Good and Evil 2 May 19, 2008
Michel Ancel, the creator of the original “Beyond Good and Evil” for the Gamecube back in 2003, said in a recent interview that a sequal for the series has been in production for about a year now. However it is not entirely backed by Ubisoft as of yet, since the small team working on it has not been given production approval. Among points brought up in the interview Ancel explained that the storyline will pick up where the last one left off, and there will be more emphasis on developing characters than the player can grow an emotional attachment too. Implementing a wider variety of gameplay types is also a goal of the production crew.

Since this was news was discovered on french site jeuxvideo … I haven’t been able to get exact quotes… but for fans of the original, this looks like great news! The first game in the series is in the top 10 of many critics ratings for Gamecube games. From what I can tell on the french site, they mention all 3 major consoles (Wii, 360, & PS3) as well as a PC version of the game.

Thought the sequel would be heading to the HD consoles.
Looking forward to this on PC though. \:D/

I’ll be excited if this game goes to the Wii, instead of the PS3 & 360.

*EDIT to main article: game is currently being produced for all 3 major consoles, as well as the PC market.

The game was pretty good but I think it went largely unnoticed. I only ever played it because of an article I read outlining some of the best games on the gamecube that never gained any traction.
Hope it works out for them.

[...] don’t want to see this turn into a gaming blog, but I just read on WiiNintendo that a sequel to Beyond Good and Evil may be in the works. The original is on my half-finished games list, but don’t let that [...]
