Miyamoto Tops Your Time 100! May 2, 2008
The tally of some of the votes was this:
Miyamoto with 1,974,651 million votes compared with Rain’s 1,555,867 votes and Colbert’s 904,523. The only other game-industry figures on the list were outgoing Microsoft chairman Bill Gates (26th with 19,452 votes and a 50 rating) and Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer (102nd with 11,571 votes).
SHIGERU MIYAMOTO had almost 2 million votes, over 300,000 more than runner-up, Rain. After a tight race at the top, Stephen Colbert came in third place with close to 900,000 votes.

Time said the Pros and Cons of theWii/Miyamoto were this:
PRO: As if creating Mario, Donkey Kong, and The Legend of Zelda weren’t enough, the “father of modern video gaming” is still designing franchises for Nintendo and its best-selling Wii console. His latest, Super Mario Galaxy, redefines VG physics once again with its springy re-imagining of that old chestnut, gravity.
CON: Can he reverse gravity for all the obese, video game–playing kids out there? Miyamoto himself has said that the purpose of his Wii Fit game, with its balance board and full-body focus, isn’t to make you fit, but “aware of your body.” Aware enough to go outside before atherosclerosis sets in?
Can that Con really be considered a Con? WiiFit ends up helping in the end, so Time is just giving us a biased opinion based on what they think not actually the facts.
