Disaster: Day of Crisis – new details emerge

Disaster wii

Disaster: Day of Crisis was one of the first Nintendo Wii games we all got a glimpse at, and was originally planned for release last year. For one reason or another that never happened, but with an impending release in Japan, Famitsu magazine has provided us with the first storyline details about the game.

We already knew that Disaster: Day of Crisis’ protagonist was Ray, but what he didn’t know is that the title centres on his quest to save Lisa, the sister of his former friend and co-worker, Steve, who has been dead for over a year. Lisa has been kidnapped, and what stands in Ray’s path to her is a series of natural disasters, including volcanoes, tsunamis and hurricanes. What’s more, a sub-plot involves the task of foiling the plans of terrorists, who aim to detonate a nuclear bomb.

As for controls, players will direct Ray using the Nunchuck’s analog stick, while the Wii Remote pointer acts to aim with weapons and other items. Although gameplay details are sketchy, NintendoWorldReport writes that one level sees Ray stopping to help a wounded stranger, as he floors a car to escape the clutches of a tsunami.

Disaster: Day of Crisis is set for release in Japan this July and an unconfirmed date this year in North America and Europe.
