Expert ghosts
Defeat a normal course ghost with a time at least seven seconds faster to unlock the expert ghost for that course.

Alternate title screen and ending sequence
Get a “One Star” rank or better in all Cups, including those in Mirror mode to unlock an alternate title screen and ending sequence.

Special credits
Win all trophies in a class to view the credits and see a congratulations screen featuring your Mii with Mario and Peach. Win all Grand Prix Cups to get another congratulations screen featuring your Mii with all the racers.

Quick start
When the countdown starts, wait until the “2″ begins to disappear, then hold 2 to get a boost at the start of the race.

Quick recovery
When you fall into an obstacle, press 2 precisely when you land to get a temporary boost.

Profile name stars
You can add a star next to your profile name on the results screen and the Wi-Fi races by completing all Grand Prix races with a certain rank:

One star profile name: Earn a “One Star” rank in all Grand Prix races.
Two star profile name: Earn a “Two Star” rank in all Grand Prix races.
Three star profile name: Earn a “Three Star” rank in all Grand Prix races.

    does anyone know if there is a trick to avoiding the blue shell thing that blows you up? i know how to avoid the pow block i just can't figure out how to avoid that EVIL shell??? PLEASE HELP!!!!

      Okay, the only way I have figured out to dodge it is when you are just about to get hit by it you use that speed mushroom you've been holding unto.

      You have to have a mushroom, the blue shell will pause above you for a fraction of a second, if you time your mushroom right it will drop behind you instead of blowing you up. Hope this helps

      Actually, I've done this before. It's extremely hard, but when you do complete this feat, you'll be so happy not knowing you're near the finish line and get blown up as about five people race past you before you reach it.

      OK, be sure to have a mushroom on you. When you see the blue shell, slow down, and you'll notice it dip into the air before it comes down on you. When you're slowing down, wait for that dip, then use your boost to just barely avoid the shell.

    ok to have two players be the same character player one has to choose the characer, press “B” on the remote, player one moves off that character, and player two chooses that same character and presses “B” it will go to the previus screen then go back to the character select screen you both should be on the same character!!!

      The retro ones are on the bottom, and in front of the track name they have NGC, SNES, or NES. This means they are from old mario karts on different consoles like GameCube. The ones on top have not been taken from other consoles, and are fresh new tracks for a new game. Race on!

      go on 100cc grand prix unlock leaf and lightning cup, then get at least one star rank, not e,d,c,b, or a, in the shell, banana, leaf, and lightning cup. (get star ranks by geting first in all tracks in a specific cup once twice or maybe three times.) so ther! thats how!

      you have to restart the profile then do 150 cup then you unlock the mirro then 100 the 50 but dont the mirro cup first do the 100 second then the 50 cup i you done with 150 cup you have to win evry race!then when miiro cup do the 4 cup then you get star then you got leaf the specal the do the lightnning cup then you get rosalina the star weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee let go that what roselina says

      The retro cups are the bottom four cups. You unlock more retro cups by winning your newest retro cup. So, if you win the Shell Cup, a retro cup, you will unlock Banana, and winning that you'll get Leaf, winning that Lightning.

      a mirror race is a race where the track is like a mirror of the original track so for instance if in the original track the path slants left, in the mirror track it will slant to the right.

      To get Rosalina you have to have a saved file of Super Mario Galaxy and race in 50 races OR Race in 4,950 Races OR Earn one star or higher in all mirror cups.

      how you unlock her is you have toif you have super mario galaxy have a saved file to your wii and then you will have her. buuuut…. without mario galaxy you have to win i star or higher in all the mirror cups. unlock the mirror mode bi winning all 150cc cups

    What's Retro Meen

      Retro refers to the old circuits originally released on the Nintendo. The retro cups are Shell, Banana, LEaf and Lightning. All of the retro circuits are prefixed by “DS” or “SNES” (or something similar) which denotes the original format the circuit appared on.

      Well the mirror cup is just the courses r backwards like left is right and right is left.
      i am still trying to unlock it. you unlock it by winning ALL 150cc cups. hope this helped.

      @Heather – Make sure you are in Grand Prix mode. Some people try to unlock in multiplayer, and that doesn’t work. Any other questions, please join our forums, where we are much more active in responding.

        a staff ghost is a ghost pre downloaded onto your game. you find them by going to i player mode then time trial
        a professional staff ghost is when u beat the normal staff ghost by 7 seconds i believe

      @Sexymaster – Please look above for unlocking Rosalina and Funky Kong. Expert staff ghosts are faster than the basic ghosts, and you have to beat the basic ones by 4 seconds (I think) to unlock the expert ones.

      @Dana – You need to unlock the Mii characters first. Then, on the character select screen, choose your Mii.

    What is the requirement to earn a one star rank? 2 Star? 3 star? in the grand prix races. I have some 1 stars 2 stars and 3 stars but have no idea how I earned the stars.

      Well… in 50cc 1,2 and 3 star is quite easy you have to stay on the road and go as fast as you can say AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE OI OI OI! 100cc requires to do wheelies as well and 150cc is the same but you have to go faster. Also a lot of technique is required like using items at protection, Dodging POW blocks, etc…

      A star is when you have won all the individual races in a cup in first and you end with 60 points. Thats a star. A one star ranking is when you have ALL star rankings in ALL grand prix, 50cc, 100cc, amd 150cc. The same for two star and three star. To get multiple stars, you need to get 60 points at the end however many times in a row. Good luck!!! ?

    this is so fun i got the rosalina with out having the mariogalaxy.i got ten characters to go and if you know how to escape a pow block or not ill teach you.
    if you want to escape a pow block flip your wii remote up and youll escape but the one who did the pow block they will be ok.
    next a star if you want to avoid it you have to go left right untill the picture goes away.
    the battles to [for cheating] can help you ok if you want to do the balloon battle you will have to pay atenchin where the people are but go around in circles if that works youll be a balloon battle expert.
    with the coins the best thing to hit them with is the red shell it will follow them but some can escape the red shell if you hit them three or two coins might go out of them.
