Expert ghosts
Defeat a normal course ghost with a time at least seven seconds faster to unlock the expert ghost for that course.

Alternate title screen and ending sequence
Get a “One Star” rank or better in all Cups, including those in Mirror mode to unlock an alternate title screen and ending sequence.

Special credits
Win all trophies in a class to view the credits and see a congratulations screen featuring your Mii with Mario and Peach. Win all Grand Prix Cups to get another congratulations screen featuring your Mii with all the racers.

Quick start
When the countdown starts, wait until the “2″ begins to disappear, then hold 2 to get a boost at the start of the race.

Quick recovery
When you fall into an obstacle, press 2 precisely when you land to get a temporary boost.

Profile name stars
You can add a star next to your profile name on the results screen and the Wi-Fi races by completing all Grand Prix races with a certain rank:

One star profile name: Earn a “One Star” rank in all Grand Prix races.
Two star profile name: Earn a “Two Star” rank in all Grand Prix races.
Three star profile name: Earn a “Three Star” rank in all Grand Prix races.

    Um quite a few of the carts are named wrong, like the nitrocycle is the zipzip, and the dragonetti is the honeycoupe. there are others too, but I'm not going to list them all.

        I just unlocked Bowser Jr., I got a star in all 100cc retro cups. I havent unlocked the others… but I’m almost positive to get rosalina you need to get a star in all mirror modes, and Dry Bowser you need to get a star in all 150cc cups. Hope it helps!!! :)

    never play wit the same person because they will start to go after u more

    another way to avoid the POW block is pull up on your wheel (like when u do tricks) on the third quake. it makes u lose your items, but u don't lose speed

    you can also get birdo by playing the game 1350 times. thats how i got her.

          You have to beat the ghost that comes with the disc (its name is Nin?something) by 7 seconds.

          its like impossible to beat the expert times when they seem to be getting boost from nowhere all the time. I use faster cars than them and still lose like crazy.

          What they mean is that you need Super Mario Galaxy to get Rosalina, or you can get a star in all mirror mode cups… which is rather difficult. But if you dont have Super Mario Galaxy, dont want to get it, and have no plan to EVER get it (like me) then getting a star in all mirror mode cups.

    right there is another way of completley avoiding pow blocks the answer is just do a jump or i tink yuou can do it wiv a wheelie not sure the first one definatly works =)

        On the courses… they are right turns instead of left and left turns instead of right. It is mirrored… but not backwards.

    I got Dry Bowser without getting all stars on 150cc… I had all but one when I got him.

      All 150cc cups means all cups… except retro cups. The retro cups are Shell, Banana, Leaf, and Lightning. So which cup didnt you do when you unlocked him?

      you need to UNLOCK 16 time trials…when you complete one, it should say “a fast staff ghost has appeared!” at the bottom left corner after you beat a time trial. that means you beat the time.

        what time do you have to beat? whether i beat the ghost that I race with or if i beat my own time in solo time trials, it only says that a ghost has been created for me, it doesn’t say “a fast staff ghost has appeared.” HELP PLEASE :)

          If u go to i belive it’s mario kart channel on the game u’ll c a thing called race ghost once u race one and beat the ghost time u should c a fast staff in the lower left conner

    you can actually flick your remote as you would doing a wheelie and it will dodge the pow block if correct you will spin around once and you will carry on going full speed remember to time it right cant explain but flick it when the pow block goes small and is about to go POW!

      you come first place in all of the races in one cup and dont be over taken once so there you go try it all of my races have got a star on it and i have unlocked every character

    how to avoid POW’S

    when a person trys to pow you the box comes up in the middle of youre screen
    and on the first beep you flick your controller up and it puts a cupple of blue circles around you for a ccoupple of seconds but you lose your item but thats only what happens so there you go and tell other people so there W A L L A !

    Play on all 32 courses in Time Trials mode or win 1,000 Wi-Fi online matches.

    I got her by playing all 32 courses on time trials, it should work, don’t challenge anyone. u don’t have to beat anybody.
