Wii Fit to cost $89.99

wiifit price

Our friends over at The Wiicast found this price at Gamestop:

The price of fitness will not come cheap on Wii, at Gamestop, it seems. Gamestop is listing Wii Fit at $89.99 with a minimum preorder deposit of $10. Previously the games had been listed at various retailers for $69.99. The Gamestop price seems a bit steep for the casual market they’re trying to tap.

What do you think? Will you shell out almost a hundred bucks for Wii Fit?

That’s around the same price as Guitar Hero III Bundle [Wii].
I dislike how sometimes GameStop adds 5-10$ to the MSRP.
I know I’m not getting mine from there.

Usually CircuitCity or Toys R Us have special offers on upcoming titles. \:D/

I think casual gamers will buy it. Here’s why…

    1) Casual gamers only buy a couple games a year so they can more easily justify spending extra $$ for a purchase which might be only their 2nd or 3rd for the Wii.

    2) As Roth said, Guitar Hero has set the bar for games that include a specialized controller. Most of the casual gamers I know grabbed GH without thinking twice. I suspect they will do the same for Wii Fit.

    3) FIT – A game that promotes exercise?!? Look at how much money people spend on diet books and slimfast. They’ll have no problem spending that money on FUN exercise. Or at least that’s enough of a rationalization.

I think I (not a casual gamer or out of shape) would pay that much for it, but definitely not any more.

John’s third point is the real reason. They’re totally monopolizing on America’s overweight and obesity problem. By even slightly suggesting that Wii Fit can help you loose weight, it’s gonna start selling like crazy (I’m looking at you, middle aged women).

I’ll be getting it just so I can re-introduce gaming to my wife and family. Little will they know that I’m trying to get them to appreciate gaming so that I can spend more time playing games!

My mother seems intrigued by WiiFit, and after seeing the price tag I think she really needs it and should buy it ;-)

Huh? Your complaining about this? In the UK it’s £70 (about $140)!!!! It’s the like with fuel prices, you lot keep complaining and we’re paying double the price!!!

Any word on the Balance Board’s cost by itself for multiplayer?

I’m already paying 50 bucks a month for a gym membership right now… you can be dang sure I’ll be waiting to pic this up at a bargain price somewhere down the road. I might be willing to pay 90 bucks for this if there were already some 3rd party, or more Nintendo dev games announced that will be using it… as it is, there may only be a few floppy games that even use this thing. People are lazy, whether they want to admit or not, most my friends eventually end up bowling and playing tennis while sitting down… trying to find the laziest way to throw a strike. While I’m excited about this, and I really hope it takes off… I’m pretty sure it’s going to be a flop, for me anyway. I’m sure sales wise they’ll do great, but a year from now I wouldn’t be surprised if we weren’t talking about it.

hmm seems a bit steep. And I mean there might only be like 1-2 games that use this. So paying $90 for 1 or 2 games that look kinda boring is not something i want.

  • Bob

well us europeans will probably get ripped off, theyll double the price for us… so my answer is HELL NO.

I think this is a small price to pay for a piece of software and equipment the whole family can use. Used properly this will help lots of people get fitter. Cant wait to have them for sale on my website as i think they will go like hotcakes!!
