Virtual Console Getting Smash Bros: 64?

Are you one of the many saddened by the news that Nintendo is pushing back the release of Super Smash Bros. for the Wii? If you are you might have a little ray of sunshine coming your way – in the form of Smash 64 on the Virtual Console.

According to Nintendic.com, the latest issue of Nintendo Power has news of a “special Virtual Console Treat” coming in the future. Could this be Super Smash Bros. 64?

This would make some sense since they released both Metroid (NES) and Super Metroid (SNES) prior to the release of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Wii). I think it would make us less annoyed by the recent delay.

Anyone want to play some Super Smash 64?

    There’s no other reason to pay for 64 when I have Melee imho

    unlike both Lvl 9 and Leo, i’ll get it even if it doesn’t have online and even though i already have melee. it’s a simplistic game and it’s wonderful! but no, i don’t think they will turn this for a feb. 10 release in SSBB’s place, or else they would have put it as a Dec. 3 release a long time ago

    Ill Def get this game because I love all smash games. it is probably going to be one of the best VC games ever made besides conkers bad fur day. But they for sure should make it online!!!!

    Oh man! I still have this game in mint condition.
    Having it on VC would be convenient for 1 good reason which is to play in 480P progressive scan.
    The colors and image should look a brighter and better on a component cable than played with the composite AV cables.

    Soon I’ll be able to play all my old N64 games in progressive scan, just without the rumble sadly.. \D:/

    who gives a crap if its online or not? you’ll get your online when Brawl comes out. Online play does not make a game good. the GAMEPLAY makes the game good. you people are freakin morons.

    Yeah, online play means nothing, we will have more than we can handle for Brawl
    I wish they would release it BEFORE brawl, just to have something else to do in the meantime, or atleast have a downloadable DEMO!!!!!

    Well.. you know, the main reason why I would get this game is to actually look back and think… wow, it did really start with this? I don’t think they will make a retro game online… Brawl is for online, this game is not for online… it’s for the story an to see how the game evolved…

    I’m actually playing it right now, it’s still a blast to fun after all of these years, but my 64 controller is kind of busted so it would be really nice to be able to play it on my gamecube controller, heck, it would be perfect, it would be like playing melee, except for less fighting moves options and butt ugly graphics, unless you are playing it in 480p, then you would have slight butt ugly graphics.

    One more thing they could add is when you get punched or kicked the helmet would vibrate to make you feel like you really did get hurt.And lets just hope they add more characters and levels in future vc smash bros releases
