Although WiiNintendo is a bit late with this news it appears that Grasshopper Manufacture’s (Killer 7) highly anticipated No More Heroes has flopped in Japan. According to reports the launch event, which took place in December, was a complete and epic failure it was more than twenty minutes before anyone purchased a copy of the game (and that person was a Video Game journalist). First day sales figures in Japan are thought to have been around 10,000. an failure compared to what people thought it would sale.

But after the similarly disappointing retail performance of Capcom’s Zack and WiKi it’s not a huge suprize, this comes as very sad news as No More Heroes has received positive reviews from those who purchased the game on Japanese import. It also supports recent theory that third party publishers are losing out when it comes to supporting the Wii, with Nintendo’s titles being the only games that consumers seem interested in.

No More Heroes is due for release in the US on 22nd January (via Ubisoft) and in Europe on 29th February (via Rising Star Games) So please go buy games like Zack and Wiki and No More Heroes so we have more then just Ninjabread Man on the system.

Stay with WiiNintendo for the American and Europe sales figures and all the latest Wii News.

With two p’s, an eppic failure is even worse than an epic failure!

    Hmmm…interesting.

I’m intrigued by this sentence, because it doesn’t seem to make sense to me.
“According to reports the launch event, which took place in December, was a complete and eppic failure it was more than twenty minutes for anyone to purchase a copy of the game (and that person was a Video Game journalist).”
So, people had to wait more than twenty minutes for a game? So? Sometimes, you have to wait FOREVER. Twenty minutes is nothing when waiting on a game. At least they got one.

Aww, I feel sorry for Travis Touchdown man.
Are people even aware that the game is out over there?
Maybe it’s because the game has an English dialog rather than their region’s native language.

Anyway, I’m readying for its release stateside, the 23rd a week before Brawl. \:D/

I’m definitely buying it. I got Zack + Wiki for Christmas, and it’s honestly one of the most fun games I own now, I was surprised. There’s good games out there, you just have to know where to find them.

You know what would help (any) game’s sales? Commercials and advertising that stretches outside of gaming magazines.

scullum2001: No one bought for more then 20 minutes.
    Sorry for the weird wording.

Fixed Version: “it was more than twenty minutes before anyone purchased a copy of the game”

    Hope that makes more since.

i will be buying on launch day. this seriously looks like one of the best wii games to date, and any hardcore gamer with a wii should be working extra hours now if they can’t otherwise get this game. that’s what i’m doing!

Shame about this game, it looks good but maybe third party software producers over the last year should have spent more time testing and brining innovative software to the wii and people may want to keep buying their titles.

Some producers have created poor titles that just seem to be there to rip people off.

When i buy a nintendo title i know im getting something that works and works well. When i buy something third party (Carnival games – annoying crashes and impossible coin flip games!, Call of duty – too many bugs and slow downs) i take a chance that my £30 is going to get me something that works and lasts.

While were at it, i want Red Stell 2 right now. A second generation game from a third party producer with promise. It might encourage other development houses to create something good. Failing that Mario Kart will hopefully prove Nintendo really are great at making games and others just suck!

I just hope this game does better in the US and Europe. Seems pretty awesome. They should concentrate on commercials and ads to get the game out over here. Maybe then, people will no that its even coming out.

I love Zack and wiki, and I can’t wait for no more heroes.

Its because these 3rd party noobs are caught up in this wiimote fad and dont think on the level of just making a damn good game.

  • Dan

    Wel said InfDaMarvel!!!

  • sxyspaz

god, this just pisses me off, if wii doesn’t 3rd party support than it’s just gonna be wasting it’s money

I believe this game will have a complete different story here in the US adn even in Europe, trust me there has been some advertising and big hype here unlike in Japan and I think that it was because of the english dialogue and you know how japanese people hate america… The xbox360 being another victim…

  • ice

I have bought it, played it, and it was awesome….those in japan don’t know what they are missing.
