This is really cool, but a couple questions arise. First, will this only temporarily mod the Wii to enable the coding? Also, would it actually be possible to create a homebrew game to run, such as a pc game, like Diablo II? This is all really interesting stuff, keep up the good work.

Would this mean that people might get something like region free program to SD cards?

It is very interesting to see that the Wii is getting decoded. A friend gave me 3 Japanese games from the Wii, but I can't play it. I just hope in the future there can be a Self-boot cd for the Wii making it ignore the Region lock and be able to play Back up CD's to preserve my originals....

Homebrew is cool, but I believe that the hackers should be working on Self-boot CD's.

Or at least the same nintendo company should create a firmware making the wii region free that way i can play my 3 japanese games.

Flamming i dont think you understand what has been achieved or what homebrew is.
The ability to write your own code & channels are easy once you bypass the protection. The protection has been bypass, which is stage 1. Imagine creating channels with nego, mame & so much more. There will be usb support for hard disk, when you say running a disc only - what does that mean. They can do this already through wii backup's. The ability to write code for the wii, was not successful because of the protection but now it has been done. The bios is apart of it & someone can write a custom bios because they can write code to the wii because the protection has been hacked

someone's excited.
personally, I've never liked homebrew that much. The apps are great, but there are never any good homebrew games. i doubt we'll have external HDDs etc very soon. And I highly doubt you'll be able to make your own channels. This is just running a disc. This is not a hacked bios, just custom code on a disc. Maybe someone will figure out a way to change the BIOS via a Disc, probably not.

This is very very wondeful news, the nintendo wii is built for emulation for any console. We will have all the homebrew games running without no problem - this will be the only console which will offer 100 percent emualtion. People can create there own apps like the weather channel, which uses a internet connection. We can connect up 1 tera byte drives through usb to store our music, videos, emualted games, saved wii games, action replay, heaps of other apps. I hope they create dosbox too, oh its going to be very amazing. Imagine ps1,ps2,MAME,nego,atari 2600,amagia games & so much more bonus. I brought a nintendo wii on the 1st day in Australia & I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS DAY - I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY CANT WAIT PEOPLE HOMEBREW YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
