Kirby may be coming to Wii in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but that may be it for the pink blob on Wii. Apparently, the company does not have plans for a solo title on the hit console.

In the “Ask Nintendo” section in the latest issue of Official Nintendo Magazine (via GN), a reader specifically asked about the Kirbster and Wii.

The official response from the company was as follows:

There are no plans right now for a Kirby game on Nintendo Wii but there are plenty of Kirby fans out there, so in the meantime look out for Kirby in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Brawl which will be released in 2008.

Oh, c'mon! it's already may of 2009 and they still haven't even told me about a release date! I hope it's out by September, and kirby is not a pre-school game, it's actually pretty fun.

Just because he's a pink puff ball that lives in an easy life dosent make him a pre-schooler game!..............Darn that diddnt turn out right...

Dylan, that video is like over 4 years old or so... that's just some beta footage of what Kirby Wii might have become if it was still slated for GCN. At this point that video is as reliable as your average rumor.

For all we know now, we get be getting another crappy Air Ride game, which at this point with Nintendo's track record, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised >_>

Lol @ Darius's comment on brain another brain excercise game XD So true. Nintendo's main audience now isn't the fans sadly. It's a shame because we've been extremely loyal. I know there will be those who say "IZ MONEYZ, NOT FANZ" but I believe firmly that Nintendo is better than that. Over the years they've been proven themselves to be very responsive to their fans and have had more than enough chances to take this crappy approach. Why they decide now of all times to do it, I can't fully explain. But it's a damn shame it is.

As for Kirby Wii; it may not be evidence that there will never be a Kirby game for the Wii, but it is still a very bad sign. At least with an announcement or something we know that there's a chance for it to come out sometime in the next 2 or 3 years. But those are very dis-heartening comments; because it could very well never happen, and who knows when it could ever happen. No fan ever wants to hear those words coming from the maker of a series they follow.

So now it's basically Nintendo's job to dissapoint their fans. What kind of sense does it make to say that there is plenty of kirby in brawl. What a retard. Brawl is NOT! a kirby game. Sure it has the kirby character in it, but it's totally not the Kirby were talking about. I bet they're probably working on another game full of minigames for the Wii or perhaps another brain excersize game for the DS. I want a videogame thats fun and says, "We haven't forgotten about the fans who have stuck with us for so long that they even remember who kirby is."

    ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!?

There is a kirby game coming out for wii. there are even gameplay videos for it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILXkySK95po
  • You're right Roth, they are currently not in development. It's not out of the question. Although, a game of that stature would most likely require AT LEAST a year of development. So, if they start in '08 it most likely would not surface until sometime in '09.

Personally, I want a NEW Zelda game. One that ups the anty on all current Wii games. The control tightness beyond Metroid/MoH2, the richness of color/physics of Mario and rebuilt from the ground up just for the Wii.

"but there are plenty of Kirby fans out there"

Plenty isn't enough... Kirby has a HUGE fanbase, obviously not as big as Marios but big enough...
  • PaulT
Well.. that doesn't say "there will never be a Wii Kirby", it's just that they're not working on it right now. I'm sure that if there's enough demand, they'll make one.
  • Back in E3 '07, it was already confirmed for Wii. The info from the new issue of NinPow just states that it's not currently being worked upon, maybe not for a 2008 release, but definitely coming later perhaps 2009+.

Think of that along side a new Pit adventure. \:D/

    STFU and GTFO Howard! D:

It's not really unfortunate at all. Kirby games are for.... how should I put it.... simplier gamers. Kirby is mario for pre-schoolers. Any game series in which I can beat the game in less than an hour isn't anything to cry over.
  • Auron
That's unfortunate, I would like a kirby game.
