Nintendo responds to Greenpeace

A Nintendo fan E-Mailed Nintendo about the findings in the Greenpeace report, and a Nintendo customer service rep sent the following response…

We were surprised by the content of the Greenpeace report, given that we take great care to comply with all relevant regulations on avoiding the use of dangerous materials, recycling, etc. For example, all Nintendo products supplied worldwide are designed to comply with relevant global standards.

In order to certify that Nintendo products comply with standards for hazardous chemical substances, Nintendo has established the Green Procurement Standards, which require our component suppliers to certify that any parts they deliver do not include hazardous chemical substances, and ensure that Nintendo fully controls its products internally.

We are always actively looking at ways to continue to increase our environmental stewardship and hold this as a corporate priority worldwide. For some additional information on Nintendo of America’s environmental efforts, please visit the following page on our website:

I read greenpeace gave them score of ’0′ because there was actually no data available, not because Nintendo actually does anything wrong. Nice touch huh! Check it out, I think this pretty much kills their credibility.

I’m all for being environmentally responsible. But most of these Greenpeace guys have gone off the deep end. Name a renewable source of energy and they’ll disagree with it for one reason or another (other than possibly solar). Nothing satisfies these people and there are no right answers for them other than the idea of basically knocking the population of the human race down a few billion people and man kind reverting back to caveman days!
