Banjo-Kazooie lives on. It survived this weeks 72 hour struggle.

First Banjo-Kazooie showed itself on the Nintendo64 as a new original game from rare. The game was a huge sucess with ratings flying through the roof. Thus came Banjo-Twooie the second of teh series. Oncew again ratings stayed high and the graphics got better. At the end of the game the witch exclaimed I’ll be back in Banjo-Threeie. Well gamecube came and went and there was no sign of banjo-threeie. The Wii list came out and still no sign. So many fans gave up on the game. Figured something happened to the developers and yada yada. Well in a September 2006 xbox 360 meeting they announce dthe launch of a 2008 game named Banjo-Threeie only available on xbox 360. They launched the big news with the following teaser trailer.

Well Banjo-Kazooie fans were rejoicing and screaming of anger at the same time. Why would Rare switch off of Nintendo and onto Microsoft? Well from the information I’ve collected that is unknown. So the news was launched and everything was going fine.

This week for an EGM employee announced

I won’t go into exacting detail because these rumors haven’t been confirmed but they’re definitely swirling around. They’re probably going to break next week. So a preview of what you may be seeing next week. A big Microsoft first-party title that has been in the works for a very long time that people are very excited for, sounds like it’s being canceled. And a Microsoft executive who’s pretty high up, who’s been a voice for the company, sounds like he’s on the way out.”

Turns out that Banjo-Threeie wa son the chomping black list. So I spent three days biting my bottom lip cursing. Finally Rare came out and confirmed that Banjo and his buddy Kazooie were safe.

Besides the fact that I have to shamefully give my money to Microsoft to purchase a xbox 360, at least our two favorite heroes are coming back in action.

Personal Self Note:

That’s alot of typos there, buddy o_O

  • Frion

Because Microsoft was the one to buy Rare when Nintendo sold it off several years back?

  • skunkchop

Yeah, Rare left Nintendo with Starfox Adventures(which is awesome) being the supposed last game from them for Nintendo. They did say something about still making games for Nintendo consoles.

Also, I wouldn’t get an Xbox 360 for this game until the reviews are up. There have been many extremely hyped games recently that turned out not so great(in reviews):
Assassin’s Creed, Heavenly Sword, Pokemon Battle Revolution, Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground, etc.
I’m almost certain that Banjo Threeie will turn out good, but you should wait.

  • Pigeon_Feeder

DAMN! Banjo Tooie was my favorite N64 game,I dont want to buy a 360,I want Banjo threeie on wii.Wii would be perfect for it to,driving beaks ito walls, thowing eggs…etc

  • ElectroJunkie

Man,that was painful to read! Am I the only one that remembers Kameo by Rare on the original Xbox?

  • jr

they made a banjo kazooie game for the gba after they were bought out by microsoft but the game sucked.

  • Sea-Bass

Dan, Kameo was a Xbox360 game. It was first annnounced for the Cube, than for the Xbox and it finally came out on the 360. Shame that it wasnt another jewel from Rare. Im holding my breath for Banjo & Kazooie, because Threeie could turn sour and it would be heart-breaking in my opinion. What good fun were Kazooie and Tooie.

  • xero

yeah, um, Microsoft acquired Rareware five years ago. Since then there has never been any hope of having a Rare game on a Nintendo home console (they could still develop for the handheld)

My hope is that they’ll eventually pull a Bungie

Personally, I’m sick of Microsoft seeing good developers and then deciding to buy majority control. They did it to Rareware five years ago and the did it to Lionhead just a few years ago.

well, this sucks. Banjo-Kazooie was one of my favorite N64 games back then, along with Banjo-Tooie. i’ve always looked forward to seing Banjo-Threeie ever since i thought it was going to be made with that little phrase at the end of Banjo-Tooie (when young you assume things like that). i would’ve loved to see it on the Wii, it would offer better gameplay.

  • kevbo

No loss here, i actually have a 360 but im not excited since Rare has lost its edge.

  • JoKer

rare is gay used to be soo cool on the n64, they made golden eye too. an if they stick with Microsoft we wont see and N64 RARE games on the virtual counsel. trust me Nintendo offered lots of money for golden eye but Microsoft would not allow it. ALSO BANJO IN THE TEASE LOOKS LIKE A FAGG> i liked the way the used to look
