Yea, but converting MP3 to AAC will loss MORE information. So you would have to rip your tracks again (I have them in FLAC, losslees). I would like to see OGG supported somewhen.

-MP3 or AAC

AAC (Advanced Audio Codec) is the current standard such as the ones you download from iTunes (.m4a, .mp4, .aac, .3gp). ItÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s even made by the same guy who made MP3, Fraunhofer IIS. ItÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s really only a matter of your SD card size.

…and what if you don’t use, and don’t want to use iTunes? Luckily I don’t use the channel anyway but as with poster #1, I don’t have any AAC tracks so this “upgrade” actually loses useful features.

To change your mp3′s to AAC’s, just import into iTunes and select it and click ‘Convert to AAC’.

Well, for me it’s not going to provide any “greater sound quality” as all my music is in mp3 format… Also, why dont they drop jpeg support and use ONLY png files as it’s a non patent licensed format? Hey, plus it has greater picture quality! And well, if you have to convert all your family pictures that’s your problem anyway… Ã‚Â¬Ã‚Â¬ so the same applies with mp3s

Nintendo takes away mp3 support with the most weird excuse, while Sony add Divx support to their PS3… so, bad move.
