According to GamerMetrics, which monitors the web traffic and purchase intent of some 15 million gamers across the IGN family of websites, the following 12 titles are the most popular upcoming games in terms of total online awareness:

1. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii)
2. WWE 2008 (PS3)
3. Assassin’s Creed (X360)
4. Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)
5. Mass Effect (X360)
6. WWE 2008 (X360)
7 Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3)
8. Assassin’s Creed (PS3)
9. Rock Band (X360)
10. Mario Kart Wii (Wii)
11. Crysis (PC)
12. Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles (Wii)

Smash Bros. generated 5 percent of total IGN web visits followed by WWE SmackDown! vs. Raw 2008 for PS3 with 3.1 percent and Assassin’s Creed for X360 with 2.6 percent.

“While gamers will always look forward to the Super Marios and the Halos of this world, a whole new set of franchises are beginning to make their mark on the industry,” I know Brawl is Popular, but this is Great!
