What are the differences between the vdigis cable described above, and the "Wii/PS3 VGA HDTV AV Cable" (http://www.amazon.com/Wii-PS3-VGA-HDTV-Cable-Nintendo/dp/B0015MISAG)

or "High Resolution Component Input VGA Box for Wii, Ps3, Xbox 360, PSP 2000, and More" (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001D7G6X4/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0015MISAG&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0VZCSG53A70SKPCNS8H9)

both by Hyperkin, selling on Amazon? Are any of them recommended over the others?

Also, is there anyway to set the Wii up for 480p if I don't own a TV? Until now, I've been using the Wii on a 25-30 year old Commodore monitor (they don't make them like they used to!) that has component input jacks. But it is finally starting to go, and doesn't work more often than it does. So I bought a 20 inch LCD monitor on Black Friday, only to discover this problem with component/VGA incompatibility.

Okay, so I'm just going to cut through the clutter here:

The cable is just an adaptor (Component to VGA).

When a monitor fuck it up, it's because the monitors internal chips'n'hardware isnt setup to recieve RGB(component) input through the VGA port.

Jesus, how hard can it be to understand? GAH!

Buy a cheap as dirt Component to VGA cable instead of the gimmicky vdigis cable.

Acer only has only 4:3 or 16:9 monitors, last I could tell. 16:9 is the only valid widescreen format, unless you use 2.39:1 ultra wide format.... which doesn't exist outside of movie projectors.

I tried this cable with my 23" Acer H233H. After 'Auto Adjustment,' I have two black borders on the top and bottom portion of my screen. Image quality is excellent when browsing through the Nintendo Wii menu. I'd say in game image quality is good and not excellent because graphics are rather jagged. The console settings are set to HDTV 480p and I am in 16:9 wide screen mode (which my monitor also supports). I really don't know what else to do to get a clearer image...

Remember: You must connect your Wii to a TV first, to set it up to use 480p-settings. THEN you can connect it to your PC-monitor.

I've been using this cable for a few weeks now with my Pioneer rear-projection HDTV and the results are fantastic. I was out of component inputs on the TV so it's great to be able to use the VGA input. Colors and sharpness are far improved from the composite cable I was using before.

Well my cables came today. Setup was a breeze and before I knew it, I was ready to go. So as I power up my Acer 17" LCD monitor (1280x1024) I noticed the Wii's text was BLURRY, I mean, still readable, but not sharp or "crystal clear" like the instructions say.

I first powered up Super Mario Bros, nothing too special, except Mario was extra pixelated. Next was Street Fighter II for the SNES; blurry, dull, and not nearly as good looking as playing on my CRT standard def tv. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was a different story, it looked pretty good and wasn't extremely blurry or dull.

Overall, I am pretty dissatisfied with these cables, I suppose I should have known that many older games wouldn't look stellar, but I honestly expected much more. BTW, I did plug in Wii Sports, and frankly, even it looks better on my regular old sdtv. I guess the moral is that 640x480 content in not intended to be put onto a high res display.

Monitors tested: Acer AL1717 LCD monitor (1280x1024)
Gateway Vivitron 15 CRT monitor (1280x1024)

Man these cables seem to be really hit-or-miss. I myself ordered these cables on the 4th of October and today is the 19th, hope they get here monday. I have an Acer 17" monitor (not widescreen) and have a NTSC Wii. I am going to be pretty bummed if they don't work together.

I've received my Vdigi cable today.

Happiness quickly turned to disappointment as I tried three different monitors (Samsung 2494HM, older Iiyama 17" and a third one) and the cable gave me no picture on neither one of them. My PAL Wii is correctly set to 480P (the picture, while broken, works through the green cable), it just seems as no signal comes through via the VGA. Now I'm sad. :( Tried the different DIP settings and nothing changes.

has anyone tried hooking it up to a samsung 2493hm?? cuz i have the ps3/wii vga adapter and it does that black flicker screen"

I am considering these days buying exactly that monitor and the vdigi cable. Have you found more info on this? I also have a PAL wii. Generally I must say there seems to be some confusion about these cables!!
